Ok…..

So I’ve spent in the region of £350 on the VFR now, trying to find out what made her stop on the motorway all of a sudden.

As you all know I have a very nice looking VFR, I love her to bits, all the reviews are true and although it is only a 400 the riding factor out performs much higher capacity bikes.
The fact it sounded and ran better than any that I had seen before, I had to spend the money on her.
The guy who looked at it for a fair few hours is a good mechanic, in 15 years in the trade he has had two bikes cause him this much grief (including mine Embarassed)
After which, he said that either I get rid of it, or get an electronics specialist to check all wiring…….So I did…...

As you may know I just increased my debt £3500 to buy a ’01 Kwak Rolling Eyes

This guy rang me up on Friday afternoon to say that after a few checks, everything seems ok, after a bit of fiddling he got it running, but it was rough.
He advised me to call the next day (Saturday) and he should have it going, I wasn’t getting my hopes up, I’d got the thing running before and that didn’t mean it was going to continue.

Saturday afternoon I was in the Racecourse car park waiting for some bikers for a ride out into the Cotswolds, when I got this message…..

“Do VFR’s do better economy on diesel?”

I think we all know what the answer to that is….. Embarassed

I have no idea how I did this, I wasn’t on anything, I had just got out of work!

Fell free to comment….. Shifty

Think its not allways a huge problem, just a pain in the arse cleaning it all through afaik.. if you'd had an injection bike it would have been a different story mind Shocked

Just add it to the list of tihngs not to do ever again, and if you do DON'T run it, just drain what you'd put in into a bucket or something and refill with the propper stuff..

You bloomin' numpty! Laughing

At least that's a (relatively) simple reason for the poor running. Fingers crossed it hasn't done too much damage. Thumbs Up

Told you I was worried about the white smoke.....didn't think of diesel causing it though.

If it helps I know someone else who did this. Luckily he noticed before trying to run it!
Hope it gets fixed OK

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I cant remember why you bought the kwak now... but i hope it wasnt because your Viffer had stopped working!? Laughing

What makes me laugh is that it was the electronics expert who worked it out - whereas the mechanic didnt have a clue Laughing

Killa, sounds funny but a few points:

1. The original mechanic seems to be not that good. If you have enough diesel to have rough running, you WILL have immediate engine oil thinning (+ smell of diesel in engine oil). You continue running and you ruin you bearings etc

2. Are you sure there is no contamination from where you filled? because the same could happen again and you could really shorten the engine life of your new bike. Tank contamination does happed in service stations!
Very Happy
