3 cool things I learnt about biking this week...

Bungee/Cargo nets are the most useful and cost effective thing you can buy for a bike, short of putting petrol in it. I bought one to carry my duty belt with all it's gubbins so that I didn't have to root in a rucksack (and thus crumple my freshly ironed shirt) when I got to work, but it's been used for so many things in the last 9 days that I can't believe I ever coped without it!

Nodding back to kids who wave at you makes their day, and makes you feel pretty damn cool too! I especially noticed this going out for a little blast down country lanes and B roads out by Amersham way, with hordes of kids just on their way home from a day in the country/park/forest/pinic site. Hopefully my crash-mangled figure and slightly un-cool bike won't be enough to dissuade any of them from following in our footsteps!

Slowing down to 25 and burbling back into your home town is pretty relaxing after all that razzing around in the country at the NSL! Just as cool, (if slightly freaky) is noticing the weird tingley feeling in your hands from all the engine vibes they've been soaking up!

All in all - pretty damn .

I'm definitely getting my confidence back at speed, although I'm still very wary of cars coming up to junctions from the sides - which is no bad thing I guess. It's be cool if the court case sped up the compensation and it became possible to get something a bit sportier than the Kwak before the summer is out - here's hoping!

i agree with you on the bungee nets, i love mine its handy,

and yeh some little kids love the motorbikes, just the other day i was walking through town (with my helmet in hand) and a little boy shouts "mummy hes got a motorbike!!" and just stood there gaping at me as i went past, i smiled at him lol think i made his week.

and im yet to experience what its like to come down from a high speed thats not 40

I am going to have to agree with you on all three points. Infact I've been thinking the same lately, how a cargo net can carry anything you need easily, and how when those two kiddies at the side of the road stuck thumbs up at me and I did the same they went mad, looked so happy

Also when I came home yesterday from a 100 mile rideout, coming into the final stages of the journey home, I just went at my own pace, didn't go screaming and doing quick starts like I usually do, just sat back in the evening sun and enjoyed my ride home.

I still get a rush when I see a Biker and he nods back to me, can't wait till I get my own and can return it to the kids

I wouldnt worry about the uncool bike/ mashed body thing. Little kids dont care, to them any bike makes you a super hero.

Summer for me if the time you really think "this is why i brought a bike" and gets you though winter

Oh and i think kid esp are really happy when they see bike always good to blip the throttle when they wave

Also, glad the new bikes working great how much are they new again?? No complains as of yet?

its important to make children think bikes are cool and inspire them to become the next valentino rossi (unless they turn out like 18aprillia),

as it sets the ball in motion for the next bunch of bikers , and the next lot , since the probable average age of bikers is about 40ish.

Cargo Nets Allow me to do my shopping, my laundry and carry stupid items which would otherwise never fit on a bike, i love them

I always nod/thums up/blip at kids, even the ones staring out the back of the parcle shelf of their parents estate that dident even wave to you, usually get a smile back.

But as for 3, i never slow down, except to by a tart with the overrun of my twin

i agree cargo nets are good but now im in the habit of rding everywhere with my tail pack on as with a padlock its semi secure storage for the helmet too

I love waving back at kids. The toddlers love it. Kind of cool how a nod or a wave can make a little kids day.

I stopped for a train to go across the road once, it was going slow and a little kid in the train was pointing and waving so I waved back and he had the biggest grin on his face, gave me a warm feeling! I'll deffo do it from now on. One told me "Nice bike" at the lights once as well, he was waiting to cross.

I dont mind kids waving, ect at me. its when they ask me to wheelie, they obviously dont value there lifes, or mine, if there asking me to do such a thing like that
