What difference does that make ?
Falling off a NSR at 60 mph is exactly the same as falling off a '98 R1 at 60 mph.

I've no idea about the helmet. Laughing

oh, that's okay then, cos it's only your head....

I'd never buy a helmet I'd not tried on first. An uncomfortable helmet can be almost dangerous, as you ride along fiddling with it, moving it about and unable to concentrate cos your lid is pinching/loose/obscures your vision.

By all means, buy a lid mail order if you trust the packaging Not to let it get damaged in transit, but please try it on first.

TBH, I wouldn't buy a helmet off this crowd because of this bit in the advert

"Exchanges/returns

You can exchange your helmet for any other size and colour so long as it is returned to us unused and in it's original box (£6.50 re-postage charge for this)

If for any reason you are not happy with your helmet you can return it to us for a refund (minus £6.50 postage) "

So basically, you could buy a helmet off them, drop it from 6 feet and return it and they'll resell it no questions asked.

At least bike shops like hein gericke have a no return policy on helmets once they've left the shop. Buy one from a shop mate.

I saw them in my local Aldi a while back. Haven't seen any lately. They seem to get things in batches, and maybe some time before they get somemore in, though there maybe some in their other stores.

Aparently they were Caberg labelled in another country but not Caberg labelled in Aldi.

TBH, I didn't thing much of them. They didn't look particularly stunning, It looked, and felt cheap.. and I wouldn't use one on my head Smile

Tbh mate, that helmet is probably absolutely fine, it will be an average comfort, average protection helmet of average quality.

Nothing special, but not dangerous, it will keep your noggin in one piece just as well as any other to a rediculous percentage.

But its up to you wether you want to pay for that tiny bit of extra safety, I thought it was worth it, others dont.

Those Head measurement charts are usually very reliable, but you might want to pop down to your local bike shop to try on a few helmets to find what size fits. Secure, but not too tight.

Hope ive helped.

Hi Lee, the Nitro N800v is a crackin helmet for the money, its not too noisy, comfortable on long journeys, and looks cool as well. make sure you get a foggy though, cos they mist up quite a lot, otherwise spend out and get a decent lid such as a Roof Boxer or the like.

A decent helmet will help you not die
A bad, poorly chosen, loose fitting, cheap and tacky helmet will help you die.

Your choice.

Not quite sure what all this average is...and how you came up with an average. Confused

.

No approved helmet is going to be dangerous until the rider comes off, and it comes into contact with the ground or an object. All the approval sticker on the helmet means that it has reached an approved standard by the ACU. Most of the higher specced and priced helmets, would have gone through additional testing by the manufacturer, and can resist/withstand higher impact forces, or multiple impacts in different areas of the helmet. (The cheaper helmets would have only gone through one impact at a specific force to get their approved sticker!). Now just imagine that you come off your bike at speed or get knocked off your bike etc, you'll be lucky to get away with one impact from your helmet with the ground, it could even be several times.

For me, I would get a helmet from a more reputable brand, and pay as much as my budget would allow.

Look around and go to some shops. Some decent branded helmets which have been in the stock for some time, or even 'Last years colours' can be found at good discounted prices.

Don't just fall in the catergory of 'I chose my helmet because it looks good, it was cheap'

Is there not a local dealers near you like J&S ?
Get in to one of the shops and try a few helmets on, choose the one that fits best THEN buy it from the internet if its cheaper, not before.

Saying that Toby as much as I agree with you to an extent most helmets over about £150 will just waste the lad's money. Above this sort of price you are almost definitely paying for flashness rather than safety.

I definately agree,

I wouldn't spend more than £200 on a helmet, I tend to stick with middle range brands such as AGV.

If you go for a plain helmet rather than a fancy paintjob it'll save you some cash as well.

Saying that, I wouldn't trust a helmet that cost less than the thick half of £100 unless it was at a bike show.

my HJC FG-14 (£114) is light, has a fully removable lining, clip buckle and quick release visor. my HJC zf-7 (?) was about £80 and is almost identical, without the QR visor and removable lining and has DD rings.

The shell and shock abosrbing material are the same, it's just the 'bits' that make up the price.

its funny too DD rings are supposed to be better than the seat belt type clip in things , I'm a bit on the fence on this one but its not likely you'll fuck up the mechanism on a DD ring system compared to a comparatively complex clip in system

A cheap helmet that's a good fit will be better at protecting you than a top of the range expensive one that isn't a good fit. Go to a bike shop and find out what fits you then you can start trying to find where to get them from cheaply.

funny , people won't put their heads in a cheap helmet , but will put their dicks in cheap 10 pinter slappers picked up down the pub.
