Hey all,

Right, i have a micron exhaust on at the moment and would like to make it a stubby,im going to be doing this myself as i want a challenge.

I am hoping to make it about 10/12 inches which is just above the hanger.

I need some tips on how to do his without completely screwing it up and i want to do it on this one and not buy a cheap one.

So im going to chop it down using a hacksaw, file down the end, get the end cap and rivvet it back on which i have the tool to do.

At the moment the end cap it bolted onto the end with 3 allen key bolts and comes off easy but im going to rivvet it back on.

So any tips??

heres a pic......

If you cut that off just above the hanger it will end up being about 6" long Shocked

The three bolts, what exactly is on the inside that these locate into?

Whatever it is it will need removing and then re-fixing further down the can.

The one's I've seen done before are of the variety that have the end-cap wrap over onto the main sleeve and then pop-rivetted on. (the most commonly made cans at the mo are like this). I've not seen one done that is fixed from through the end cap before.

The most difficult bit usually is hacksawing the thin'ish main sleeve without deforming it.

The 3 bolts screw through a plate which is part of the baffle, this is no problem though as i can just put nuts at the back of the bolts to hold them there and pop rivvet the end back on.

I could put something inside the can when cutting to prevent it from deforming. It is actually about 8/10 inches up where the hanger is.

Urgh, they look awful IMO. Can't see why anyone would want to butcher a nice Micron can into one of those silly looking things Confused .

Bet you could sell that for ~£40 no problems on eBay.

People don't care that it'll fuck their fuelling and sound stupidly (bad) kinda loud.

Drill out the rivets at the exit end, slip it all apart, cut it down, re drill the necessary holes, re rivet it closed, simple.

Or, if it's easier, remove from the other end... depends on the can really.

Called an exhaust clamp, they come in all different sizes, couple of quid on eBay, and that's probably paying over the odds tbh.
