Right, well I went for a little blast earlier, ended up coming home on motorway. Was keeping up with traffic (and getting blown to pieces by wind!) and my bike only got to 90mph .
I'm sure it's supposed to be alot quicker than that, might it be restricted? |

a bandit 400?.
it's restricted.
the head wind on the motorway would have been slowing you down a little (must be hard riding an unfaired bike at those speeds on the motorway .. ).
you should be able to go 120 and some on it though. ____________________ bikes owned :-

I'm talking about a Bandit 600 here, but I can't imagine the 400 would be too different...
You can restrict a Bandit two ways. One is with washers (an FI international kit) which sit between the carbs and the intake. Just pop the tank off, pop the carbs off and take out the 4 washers (they just sit in the pipes, should be no welding involved).
The way mine is done is by restricting the motion of the carbs so they can't open fully - this gives you better performance apparently but it's a pain in the arse to remove if you're mechanically inept like me. I don't know how to tell how your bike is restricted, I think you should take it to a garage and let them find out, unless you know what you're doing yourself.
Anyway, you've just passed your test and I'm sure you're not 21 yet, so what are you doing derestricting it eh? Naughty naughty... but it's OK, I won't tell anybody ____________________ My bike: Suzuki Bandit 600 (33bhp)

^ thats it, and yes unfortunately you will get less mpg but on the other hand its worth it isnt it, only other restrictions i can think of are exhaust and throttle but i imagine its the washer things. |

Nothing to do with his speed, he was having to chase other riders because only they knew the route ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

my divvy 600 does 105 max, thats for an unrestricted 60bhp bike. No fairing though so I guess that's the cause..

And in my defence, if I'd of had a faster bike I wouldn't of crashed .
And it's the MPG I'm worried about more, me money is going down the drain! |
