I'm going to take the missus for a picnic today, i was going to go to the local park, which got me thinking.....

As there are so many regulations nowadays i was just wondering if you can't have a picnic in certain places.

Cheers

As long as you're considerate and tidy up rubbish I don't see why not.

Just don't visibly consume alcohol as it's banned from some public places now.

Cucumber sandwiches!

How British! But don't leave them too long or the bread gets soggy. Sick

Not much help to you but..

I'm sure many local parks/gardens have a similar bylaw.

However, for Kew Gardens

So go figure...Very Happy

As the adverts say, just do it...

A cool bottle of wine is good, screw top prevents any embarrassment forgetting the corkscrew Shocked Plastic wine glasses for outdoors also saves hassle (this time of year from any supermarket, Asda, Sainsburys, etc.). Don't bother with the effort of making sandwiches as such. Just get some cuts of meat, salami, paté, etc. and a loaf of uncut bread, or fresh french stick and make your own open sandwiches as required (take a knife for paté). The strawberry suggestion is also good too Thumbs Up

This is normally the case for Botanical Gardens, as well as The Horticultural Society gardens. I suspect is so things like seeds from fruit and vegetables do not make their way into the soil.

Your average park I doubt even the local park keeper knows there's some bye-law.

Wicked suggestions guys!

So, M&S is about 5 minutes from me, do they have things that are decidedly picnicy?
Bread’s a good un, some cheese perhaps, meats, um, party rings!!?

Cheers guys, any other ideas… go for it!

Oh yeah, a rug.... Thinking

Could always go for Bagels, they rock. Or those little fresh rolls. A French Stick is a bit unruly in the hamper.

You can get stuff like fresh prepared bagged salad. Those little cocktail sausages.

Fillings, I'd suggest fresh ham/chicken from the deli counter, much nicer than packed stuff. philadelphia (light of course).

Strawberries as mentioned, they go down well with the ladies.

Party Rings... If you get them, save me a few!

M&S sells loads of stuff, buy pre-made rolls or whatever from there and pretend they are made by you.

Just buy loads of little party things and crap, or just go down the chip shop, hmmmmmmm Neutral

they also sell chinky food there also.

it is only fires they get upset about and occasionally alcohol, they wont care about a picnic!

They dont often like you kipping there either!

Just been down to the park with my better half for lunch, was really nice weather...........right nextdoor to where I work, could have happily stayed there all afternoon!

In my experience you'll always find someone with an irrational objection to whatever you do. Be it park your bike, have a picnic, stand somewhere minding your own buisness.

The trick is to block out or prepare a witty reparte for them.

Or, as some BCFers might suggest, 'punch them in the head'
