Hi
Ok the word from the garage is not good, turns out i had an engine sizesure, luckerley it didnt stop dead. anyway it cracked the engine casing and i need a new one. So im getting a second hand one Rolling Eyes from a breaker (double Rolling Eyes ). Is this a good idea the bloke at the garage said it was. And 2 could i get a derestricted engine and would it work with my bike as i think is fully retricted or at least it was.

Its not the actual engine thats restricted Luke, at least on Uk models anyway. Its the exhaust and intake restrictor, so get a second hand engine, use your old exhaust, make sure theres no intake restrictor and you should be back to normal.

People say thats the only restrictions but im pretty sure thats false. It would appear the Barrell's used by UK machines have slightly different ports to the ones released in Japan. When i bought my bike i had to build it from a wreck and ordered my barrell from David Silver who imports them from Korea. Looking at the nackered barrell i took off the bike it would appear the imported one had very, very slightly different ports in it. My bike is pretty fast, my mate has a similar one and it blows his away easily.
Is Honda releasing UK NSR's with slightly different running gear to the far eastern markets. Anyone know anything about it?

Anyway Luke, forget all about that middle paragraph. Just concentrate on the first one and youll be sorted hopefully.
Best of luck

hi James
Its an import so its not UK, when you the intake is that to do with the carb. I'm getting a nikon exhaust sytem for the bike so that should speed things up. Whats a good price of a second hand two stroke engine btw.

Thanx

Hi
I've got my bike back now and ive rode it a bit over the weekend. Anyway with the old engine the bike pulled all the way to the red line, now with this new one it only pulls to about 9 an a half thousand revs, so does this mean that the old engine was derestricted in some way, remembering that its an import, and if so what's the difference

My engine siezed on the motorway and I threw me off before i could grab the clutch. Still in the shed waiting to get fixed!

Anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost to fix a siezed engine?

I think it was due to a cooling fault and cheap oil I was forced to use as I had run out of the good stuff.

A complete piston kit for the later nsr's with the nickasil plated bore costs about £190, but if your bore is repairible (can be done by www.stanstephens.com ) it would probably cost bout £100. This is if you did all the work yourself and didnt check the con rod or crankshaft for staightness.
Good luck
