Just recently started putting a few more miles on the clock with my commute to work.

As a consequence am starting to get a sore left wrist. Its not from the riding position as I could rest on my wrist all day and it'd be fine. Its just operating the clutch, I don't think its an overly stiff action nor is the span all that big but bugger me it hurts.

Using ibuleve gell as a short term remedy but does anyone have any tips? Is it my action?? if there is such a thing??

The more you use the clutch the stronger your wrist will become, give it a few weeks and it won't hurt any more Thumbs Up

I had this on the new bike. Got a new adjustable lever and problem sorted itself, probably combination of the lever and me getting used to it.

Is the clutch a cable or hydraulic? If cable would suggest getting a cable lubricator and making sure well oiled. A friend did this on his Virago and it made it 100% better. Changing to new DOT4 in hydraulic clutch also helps.

Let us know if you solve the problem.

You will adapt i'm sure, you just got to push through the pain barrier

BTW do you start a thread for each wrist? Confused

relax your arms, you should be able to do the funky chicken, flapping yer arms with loose elbows, grab the tank with yer legs more, sit upright more often and dont put you weight on your wrists. dont grip like mad, loosen off on the grips.

Super helpful, cheers.

Its going in for its 4k service so will ask them to lube up the cables while they're at it.

As for hydraulics, sounds a little dodge. Do you not lose alot of feel with hydraulics? Plus I had a mega near miss in my Truck when the hydraulic brakes went pop and I went through the garage door, thank christ for bull bars..........

I do all of the above, sometimes especially round london where its stop start stop start, the tendons feel like they're gonna snap.

So funky chicken comes out, as does Saturday night fever, and when it starts getting a bit warm down below a bit of twist and shout, combine all three and it looks like I'm having a fit on my bike.

Left wrist Dark mate...

You saw a pik of the bike earlier, it would be hell with cable brakes on that thing.......

But I also agree with your earlier point of building the strength in it till it dont hurt n'more. Only had the bike about 6 days and have clocked up about 500 odd miles, so that could explain it.

And no, before anyone asks, I dont engage in any extra curricular activities with my left wrist that might hurt it. Wink

My missus is experiencing the exact same problem, she rode her bike a relatively long way on Sunday. It doesn't have a particularly heavy clutch and she says its not uncomfortably positioned its purely a strength issue.

Confused I meant if your bike has a hydraulic clutch. Some do, some don't. If fitted (you have the master cylinder at the clutch lever) the theory is just the same as bleeding your brakes.

Hope this clarifies Thumbs Up

It's something I get whenever I haven't ridden for a while, only way round it is to build up the strength again.

When I started riding I had wrist pain for the first three months or so, every morning I'd wake up with a dead hand. Confused

I had painful wrists when I started riding, it eased after a few weeks and shaking the hands every so often helped, problem was it was my right hand that hurt the most Mad

What about changing the bar ends, dampers or seating position (grip more with the legs, sit back further)

What do you ride? I can't ride more than 20 miles in stop-start traffic on my bike, my hand just totally dies.

I get this if I spend any more than a few weeks off the bike and go for a decent ride. I find that after a few days back on it im fine.
My wrist hurts and everytime i need to pull the clutch in the back off my hand kills.

If Im riding every day it never seems to be an issue.
Was really bad when i first started riding took near a whole week for it to pass.

SO be happy in the knowledge that the answer to your problem is simply ride more Thumbs Up

Suppose that's one of the nicest answers, just ride more..... Thumbs Up

Just so it clears things for everyone, its less of a wrist joint problem, i.e. crackley boney type issues from putting too much weight on them, its more of a strained tendon-y type feeling.

I've decided to give my self a a few days rest but I know for a fact that it'll hurt again as soon as I jump on this weekend Mad .

Don't think the clutch is particularly heavy either, but when the aches really start to kick in I can't even fully pull back the lever, I almost have to hope that half a pull will let the gear slip out so to speak.

Oh Jack_Cheese the bikes a GSX-R600 K4
