Nice, and I agree with the number plate, there is no point of the small one and getting fined for using it!

I'm in the market for a 600 too, I'll be getting an FZR or such like myself, so the daddy to the Thundercat. Smile

Relatively low mileage for a Cat that age and already has the R&G's for when you drop it Laughing

Great first bike Thumbs Up

Would you not want to view it first before travelling all that way and buying? Thats why ive now started to look more local for my next bike.

That's a good price, especially if you can get it down to £1500. A very good price. Looks like a tidy example with most the extras I'd expect.

You want to ride it on the day before you take it home - even with that mileage it might be suffering the God forbidden 2nd gear killing itself.

Best of luck, I've done about 1500 miles on mine since late April, and it's just brilliant, when I've got the money to maintain it. Rolling Eyes Not even out of the ordinary maintenance! Why didn't anyone tell me you can't have a bike and quit your job at the same time?! Crying or Very sad Laughing

hes got the full plate, he did a police bike safe test with that plate on it and they said it was fine, but ill be putting the full one on, as police around here are abit picky.

hes also got the clear screen.

he said he knows all about the 2nd gear, but its never done it too him, he did around 1500 miles on it the year he's owned it.

seems a good enough guy, hes a Telecommunications Consultant Rolling Eyes

for a similar price you could get a 2000 tt600 with about 10000 miles
tt600 on ebay
might be worth giving one a test ride, see if you like it

they are more agile than thundercat, but power delivery on thundercat is better

the 2000 tt600 has on off power delivery and you need to really rev it hard to get it. The power only kicks in at very high revs. the 2001 has better midrange

thundercats are probably better for long distance, but i find a tt600 more fun because its agile

Have you got enough money to pay for the extra fuel you will be using? Mr. Green

Number plate will have to be changed for the MOT, so if it comes without MOT you want the money back for that and the plate.

If it comes with a new MOT and that plate, consider the MOT to be worthless cos the tester hasn't even looked at the bike.

Other than that, looks nice.

I'm a big fan of the Thundercat, a very underrated bike IMO. Looks very good for the price and i'll also emphasize you test ride it.

If you buy it mate, ride it back, if you can get someone to give you a lift up and follow you back in case of problems all the better.

Fine looking example of a cat there at a good price. Would highly recomend getting it. Looks like it's the same year as mine. Having done 10K miles since september 05 on it and it being my first bike would highly recomend it.

As for some comments about it not being to agile, well you can get a jack up kit for about 30 quid which sharpoens it up abit. Still waiting to try the other change to make it even sharper, which is to change the tyres to a 12/70 F, 170/60 Rear - this come as a recomendation from the Thundercat forums.

If you can get it for 1500 go for it....and as for the ride back just get someone to follow you. But at that milage you shouldn't have any issue's.

my mrs and my dad will be following behind, and she may jump on the back between services too see what its like, the plate will be put back on before i ride home, already got a qoute for it, £346.77 tpft Thumbs Up i can phone from his house, insure it, and ride it home, not sure if it has tax, will have to ask.

Ridden sports 600's before, but it will be my first time on the motorway, should be okay, just follow my dad.

:snigger:

You will be very surprised at the speed and handling of the Cat. Get it over 7k revs and you will have a very big smile on your face. They are a great bike and very underated, if you ride it well you won't be left behind on any rideouts, great midrange and will top 150 without a problem...enjoy it Smile

Oh yeah, the wind/rain protection is also very good on the Cat.

I hope it doesnt rain on my ride back, i feel im a competent rider, but if its hammering it down, on a new bike, the power at slow speeds in towns may be a pain, sure ill be okay, but any tips as i dont want the back end slipping up and spitting me of me *new* bike.

Cant wait till monday now !

cheers, Steve.

I rode a brand new ZX10R 180 miles home from Newcastle and it rained for half the journey, i was very worried indeed about binning it, but i made it home ok.

You'll be fine dude Wink

Thundercats are notoriously bad at slow speed riding, lots of feathering of the clutch is needed.

i was always told they were good round town, with a meaty mid range ?

They tend to be a bit 'lurchy' at low revs round town, hence needing to feather the clutch..a lot! But they do have a great mid range.

the one i tried, wasnt lurchy at low revs round town. i think that is gonna depend on the way the bike it set up.

a lot of tt600's are feeble at low revs, but mine is set up to be a bit lurchy which i prefer to feeble

the thundercat i tried was neither feeble or lurchy at low revs
