Heard on the news that a 7 year old boy and his father were attacked in Scotland yesterday for wearing an England top. In another incident, also in Scotland, a disabled bloke was dragged from his car and assaulted for flying a flag on his car and wearing an England top. Obviously these made the headlines because they're kinda extreme, so I wonder how many racist assaults actually took place.

That is rascist, I'm afraid.
| Quote: | The ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) defines racism as follows:
“Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life.” |

FWIW in my experience some people and places in Scotland are very racist, nasty and hostile to anyone English. I know I've felt uncomfortable. However, some other places and people are as hospitable and friendly as you could wish.
So just like any other place/country then.
I guess it is a racist thing, or maybe an inferiority thing, who can tell. Is there a psychologist in the forum?
FYI this link has the story that this thread is about. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Living in Aberdeen all my life, ive never seen any racism towards anyone because they are English and apparently there is quite a high English poplulation in Aberdeen. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/chrisrx50/ - sold - onwards and upwards! |

Yeah quite likely, i work in the oil industry and id say about 10% of the staff in my work are English. And they never get any hassle.
Oh, the oil fields etc are still making big money ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/chrisrx50/ - sold - onwards and upwards! |

what gets me is.. a womans husband who i work with is scottish and he lives in england obviously.
he supports man city every week (not rangers even though he wears thier shirt all the time )
when the world cup is on though he cheers on the other team that are playing against england.
i mean if scotland is so great and he hates england that much to live here for 30 years why doesnt he fuck off back home?. ____________________ bikes owned :-

It's gotta be jealousy aint it?
We get sunnier and warmer weather, we don't have dodgy accents, bar above the Midlands and we have fitter ladies.
