Just looking for some advise or maybe even an Insurer that I've not tried yet...

Looking to buy McJamweasels bike, 2001 ZX6R.

I'm 25 (nearly 26) 0 NCB but I've not claimed and clean licence, bike will be garaged and its tagged and CAT1 alarm etc...

Best quote so far is through H&R brokers with NIG Insurance, £515 FC or £315 TPFT.....I think I should get it lower but should I be phoning about rather than trying online quotes?

So far I've tried (all FC quotes)

Bennets £845.
Direct Choice £984.
Quote me Happy, Norwich £2116 - I did chuckle Laughing
Insure and Go £1186 till they phoned my then reduced to £843.
Hastings £727.82.
Devitt £998.
A Quote Online £998.
CIA £1191.
Kawasaki Care £1300.
Performance Direct £1200.

Still to try a few others which don't work at my ee..um work!

What you think, you think I can get this lower or is there an insurance company out there I have missed...

Ta much. Thumbs Up

Did you try the old "can you beat this quote I got from such and such"? Usually always works, CIA wouldn't quote that much if they knew you got a quote of £500 odd!

I was £430 TPFT on the ninja at 21.

Maybe i live in a really crappy area but i don't see the problem? £315 TPFT doesn't sound much. I just renewed mine yesterday and paid £278 TPFT on a tatty 10yr old gpz500 worth £500. And that's being one year older than you with a years ncb.

Try Carole Nash mate. Ring them up and thell them what your best quote is so far (minus £20 of course Smile ) and they will usually beat it.

Use the online quotes as a guide of how cheap you can get it, then ring them up and you will get it much cheaper! Wink

Have you tried ebike yet? They were the cheapest for me (although I went with Carole Nash in the end cos it was only £20 difference but there were some significant benefits included).

H&R sounds like a good quote. Not being funny, but is it worth going Fully Comp on a £1900 bike?

FC would probably add another £500 on for him since he has no experience, i'd say £500 would fix most damage that you could do on a 2001 zx6 short of a right off.

Personally use www.4counties.co.uk , give them ring, they are very helpful and will answer all your questions.

I am paying £360 tpft in an F* area at 17 on an ER-5, with 1 years NCB.

They have quoted me £480 tpft on a SV650 for the year. Not bad at all, still 17 and it's worth £1700. I was amazed that Bennetts online quote beat this, but I am already into the year with 4counties so I was prepared to pay the £9 to gain NCB faster.

Like I say, give them a ring in the morning.

Go Carole Nash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked

Fook me, told them my cheapest price -£30 and they beat the price, threw in Breakdown cover, 3rd Party insurance for any other bike and knocked £250 off the £500 excess I had with the NIG quote!!

Just goes to show you, it started off at £900-odd down to £400 and thats Fully Comp! Mr. Green

I was paying £500 for my R6 1st time and then went down to £350 then back to £500 after a claim!

I was 23-24 back then! Shocked

What were the benefits?

I pay about £120 for three bikes with Ebike including breakdown etc, Carole Nash were about £20 more and I didn't see anything different?

ebike doesn't include cover for other bikes, which annoys me.

I have another policy on a bike I may be selling soon purely so I can get the 'ride other bikes' - though I may well transfer the policy next bike I get and was £100, so presuming nothing too bad happens, I get another year's NCB on that 'stream' to add to the pot Smile.
