Id disagree with that entirely, get a cheap alarm as they arent any use for long term protection. I have ridden bikes with expensive alarms before and they have invariably been either completely shite, or no better than one of the £20 ones off ebay. If you want an alarm get a cheap one, and spend the rest of your money on an Almax series 3 chain and lock. The chain will actually stop theives so it is more important to spend money on that than an alarm whichonly serves to alert you that your bike has been touched.

personally I wouldnt bother with an alarm. People ignore them anyways and its completely useless when thieves cut the battery wires and wheel/lift your bike away.

What security do you have at the minute? If none id buy a fairly decent chain+lock first..

Just a thought and costs next to nothing... add a switch in between the positive wire directly off the battery so when the switch is off there is no power to run the bike. Sorta like a hidden kill switch Smile

Feck me that would have to be a heavy duty switch! Better putting a hidden switch on the feed wire to the coil. Thumbs Up

ive got a datatool alarm, and if you cut the battery lines, the alarm will use its own battery and make a hell of a lot of noise (as i found out trying to re-move my battery)

its a good alarm, it'll be handy if im in ear shot of my bike and something happens, otherwise wont do much i guess, although was hillarious when my mate sat on it when i was walking up to the bike, the alarm went up and i have never seen him jump so high (was also impressed considering he was on the bike)
