World Cup Bet...

I like to have a bet every now and again (that's a slight understatement) and have just been having a look at a possible accumulator for the semi-finals.

I'd just thought I'd post it up if any of you might be interested...

You're betting on two draws and the fact that both games will go to penalties so if you don't think that'll happen (or you couldn't give a toss!) stop reading now

The whole bet relies on the fact that there are 4 teams in the semi's with pretty good defensive records and none of them will want to take the initiative in an attacking sense.

If you had a quid on 0-0 and penalties on the semi final tonight and doubled it up with the game tomorrow the odds would be (based on a bet that I had at the weekend - I haven't got access to a betting website at the moment I'm afraid)...

6/1 for 0-0
10/1 for either team to win on penalties (you'd have to put a quid on each scenario unless you wanted to predict the winner of penalties outright)
So, it'll cost you 4 quid to cover every result eventuality for this...

1 quid at 6/1 = £6
6 quid at 10/1 = £60
then for the second game...
60 quid at 6/1 = £360
360 at 10/1 = £3600

Pretty good odds for a 4 quid outlay.

You could cover yourself by just betting on the draw but as the odds are so low (15/8) it's not really worth the effort although you'd still come out with approximately £1100

Well, I've managed to find the odds for tonights game so here are amended figures...

No Goalscorer - 11/2
Germany to win on Penalties - 8/1
Italy to win on Penalties - 10/1

If you just did two accumulators on tonights match ie..

No Goalscorer and Germany to win on Penalties (£1.00)
and...
No Goalscorer and Italy to win on Penalties (£1.00)

...the return would be £44 and £55 respectively.

I do gamble quite a lot but just thought that this 'un might be a bit of fun for those of you who might wanna chuck a couple of quid at it.

Wave, Germany are 13/8 to win the whole competition - that's crap odds

Can't negotiate the william hill site for sh*te i.e how to put on no goalscorer AND one team to win it on penalties.

France all the way though, I bet.

The odds are taken from Coral however they will not let you place a like this as the Penalty part of the double is what they consider a 'unique bet'.

If you print off the below attatchment and take it to your local bookmaker - they'll understand although you'll have to ask them for the odds that they'll give you - it shouldn't be very different to the ones I quoted above.

Yes Andy, if there is no goalscorer during the game and it goes to penalties then you'll be a winner - Based on the Coral odds, if Italy win on Penalties you'll get £55, if Germany win on Penalies you'll get £44 - It's bound not to happen now

sooo close - covered my losses (and gained a few quid!) with a no goalscorer in 90 minutes bet though

Glad no-one took my advice, I'd have felt a bit guilty.
