I'm having a blonde moment and cant figure out if the rear seat race plastics have space for the back brake light ? I've never had the rear end off this bike yet !
The bike is a gsxr600 k2.
If not, could one be fitted ?

The thing is i want to put the race/track items on the bike and RIDE it to the local track. Not to worried about the indicators or lights as i would be going in the day.How would this legal ?

Told you i was having blonde day !

Also on ebay a guy is selling a k1/k2 1000's gsxr track kit and say's it might fit the 600's and 750's too. Any idea's if the two are compatable ? 1000's and the 600's ?

Any advice would help ! Thumbs Up Smile

You would have to apply for a daytime MOT if you want to run no indicators and lights. If you are caught without them on a normal MOT then the bike is not in a roadworthy condition and they will bend you over and ride your chocolate highway Wink

I remember Shaun had a GSXR K1 and his track plastics were made up of 600, 750 & 1000 fairings.

If im right in thinking the K1 & K2 have the exact same body work

Yeah distortion is right.

I had a GSXR600 K1 model, I used scratched fairings bought off ebay from different models as track panels. Fairings will fit off the following models.

GSXR600 K1 - K3
GSXR750 K1 - K3
GSXR1000 K1 & K2

Thumbs Up

When I've got daytime MOTs they haven't marked it as such on the MOT certificate.

If the normal brake light doesn't fit, just cut a hole for one Smile.

Personally, if possible, I'd have a brake light but wouldn't worry about the rest.

Yeah, just cut a hole.

Although I did see a trackbike with a brake light LED concoction bolted onto the number plate bracket, below the plastics.

Interesting that this very important piece of paperwork is not marked appropriately for the old bill to roger you every which they can because you are tearing up the roads on a track bike.

Had a brief idea to buy some race fairings and cut / bolt / fashion some how a set of small front lights instead of the ugly ones currently on the bike, same at the rear with the brake light.

Thanks for all the info ! Thumbs Up
Looks like i can use the rear seat plastics and cut a slot out for the rear lights and use a race/track front no lights and track belly pan.
Great news about that the different cc's use the same plastics as that means i can get the set for k1 100's. Thumbs Up

Might get a set of those mirrors with indicators in them and remove them at the track aswell. Thinking

If i was going to use the bike 100% for the track i'd do it all tidy, but doing it this way kinda keeps me legal and doesnt feck up the telefonica paint job on the fairings.

Dont know if any one else feels the same way,but after my second track day and i've got my third planned, road riding seems too dangerouse and i dont really enjoy it as much as track days what with all the nutters on the road, pot holes and the spill's etc...
Any one else feel like this ? Thumbs Up Confused
Cause all the money i'll save on insurance, mot, tax etc.. ,means i can blow it all on a trailer, trackdays, and tires !!!! Wink

A while ago I got stopped for 119mph while undertaking. They were particularly angry because it took them 10 miles to catch up with me and I hadn't realised I was being chased.

My bike was a track bike with a dodgy head light held on with some computer case. Rear tail light wasn't working when they stopped me, but got it working again as it was a blown fuse.

They got a car with a digi camera to come and take a picture of the rear tyre (scrubbed up from track use) and the headlight which they said was 'too small' as it was a projector beam - though it was actually a legal E marked one.

They didn't care about the track bodywork or lack of indicators, or that it was a different colour to the v5.

Ok, a daytime MOT wasn't mentioned (though I said I did have an MOT, which I didn't.)
They didn't really care that it was a track bike it's self (full race fairings, with a small hole cut for headlight and LED tail fairings.
