Santa Pod on a RWYB day. Turn up, pay your £20 and take your own vehicle up the 1/4 mile drag strip - all timed. Here are some pictures I took.

Finally, the most awesome vehicluar sight I have ever witnessed. This thing had an afterburner running the entire length of the car. I was stood about 30m behind it and the heat output was amazing. When he powered it up, we were covered in smoke. He got a bad start (3 second reaction time... you'd expect around half a second) and still did the standing quarter in seven seconds (so, four really) at a top speed of... 226mph! Shocked

I found a video of the jet car ("Fireforce"). Now, watch the video and imagine being stood where I was (directly behind the car in the mini grandstand! Laughing )

Reaction times are not included in final time's on RWYB days. He could have sat there on green for 60 seconds, the time still would have been 7 seconds. RWYB days are used by the pro's to get the launch right, that means messing around trying to get the best launch with different rev's. Wink

Yep, I've since discovered that! I thought the reaction times were included! Embarassed You watch the video above? Apparently it set the World Record for the car type last year - 336mph and 5.7s! Shocked

I was at pod about 3 years ago and the Fireforce jet car was there. The sound it kicks out is just unreal, a real hands over your ears job! It done a 300+ run back then too. Just soooo fast! Thumbs Up
