interesting stuff, triumph does sound quite the good choice
interestin to see they put the r6 where it should be as opposed to where the hype wud say, and the ducati 749s being twice the price and getting owned Very Happy

Actually a very interesting read to be honest.

From the second i started reading i just new the Daytona would be a number one.

The Daytona seems to be "thee" bike for 2006. Ive seen this bike down at the local Honda Garage and it looks as good as the pictures in that review.

I really want to own this bike at some point, all the mags seem to picure it as special.

I like how they tottaly ripped into the new R6 though, still baffles me today as to why Yamaha could think they would get away with actually claiming their bike could go up that many revs when in actuall fact it does not rev that high, and was mainly to "hype" up the bike. still looks nice though.

Rich.

Wow, that was an awesome review. It was interesting for me to see what the competition offered as I was wondering about the RR and Daytona as I havent had a ride on one yet.

They didnt seem to love the duke as much as Wave does lol (jk) but I think its a gorgeous bit of kit, and would love to get a ride on one, one day.

I was pleased to see my bike coming second in the overall test but by reading the review they all seem very similar.

Thanks for posting Thumbs Up

"The new R6 is definitely not the most practical choice for street riding," BC sums up. "It's hard to look past its anemic low-end and even lackluster midrange for practical riding."

Well, unless i'm very much mistaken. It is a sports bike isn't it.lol
Thats like saying a Ferrari isn't the best family car around. No shit Sherlock.

When are we all gonna grow up and stop this comparing nonsence?
I went out and bought the R6 because i loved the look of it. Not because it supposedly revved to 17,500rpm. Or because it was 0.00003 seconds quicker around a track than bike A. Ok it might not have the torque of the Ducati or the mid range of the kawasaki. But it has enough pull to get me away from traffic lights and get me to work on time. And yes, my wrists are a little sore after a long ride, i didn't buy it for comfort.
I was out for a ride with a few pals today. One was on a Honda 400 NC30 i think it is. I totally cleaned him on the straights on the R6. Anyone can go quick in a straight line. I could only stay with him on the corners though. Couldn't get by him. Why? Because he's simply a better rider than me. Nothing to do with the bikes at all. You can have the fastest torquist revving bike on the planet. It doesn't make you Rossi.
Just go out and buy the bike you like, fuck up, and be happy with it.
I did Very Happy

Did you also know that the new
Daytona 675 is as small as
an Aprilla rs 125 !

They look sweet but the Triumph is
too small.

I have to agree with The Dude , the R6 '06
is a great looking bike.

I would love that. Just image it, people on 125s and 600s thinking they are going to pee on you until they realise you have hit 60 before they hit 30. Laughing

That would be cool. I'm assuming that this would mean that the bike is really light for a 700?

Before reading the review I was pretty much decided that I wanted a R6 or CBR600RR because they were my favorites.

Now, after the review, the Daytona is looking pretty good. It sounds good, has a good sound from the 3 cylinder power house, good braking system and overall good looks Thumbs Up

If I see a daytona while choosing a 600 while standing beside a 600RR or R6, I think it will be a very hard decision for me to make.

I'm new to having a 'proper bike' mainly by luck and price I've ended up with a zx6, have to say after reading that I'm glad and think I made a good choice.

My old NRS was not restricted and the totally odd and bizarre power band was fun but also a dam pain in the ass if you needed power to react to something.

The ZX seems to have power all the way through, in any reasonable gear and rev combination, I like that and it's reassuring, I use the power and pick up to get out of potential situations more than anything so it feels safe.

After reading the review I would not have a duc as the price and comfort, the cbr as they look dated now and slower, the R6 well I like the look .... I think... but that comment on the power band had made me VERY wary, I'd have to try it (as sure will Very Happy ) but looking at the visual graphs on power dont look promising.
As for the suzuki well I think the looks need something more, maybe more radical. and the Triumphs yes I saw one in place I was going to get my kwak from, it looked the biz , one of my first thoughts was reliability tho, I should be more brit backing but brit cars and bikes never seemed to have the same build quality and robustness as the japs, as I doubt I will never be able to afford a brand new bike then I want something that's going to stand the test of time.

Funny though being as sold as I am on the ZX the new zx hasn't grabbed me as much as mine (2002) style wise, maybe this will change when there is the possibility of making one mine Smile

Very good link thanks for sharing

Ian

I can't wait for the litre bike review. Thumbs Up Wink

I just love to see those 1000cc power demons mix it up.

But, overall, my money is on the Gixxer. Thumbs Up Very Happy Not my favorite bike, but, that's my prediction.

I agree in the most part with The Dude. Its all very well comparing how each of the new 600cc sports bike performs against each other but in reality they are so closely matched what does it matter? The only people who are going to notice the subtle differences in performance between the bikes are those who are thrashing them round a track flat out and so whilst on your sunday ride out with your mate will it really make any difference if he has 3bhp more than you? Most of these bikes have more performance anyway than the rider has the skill to fully command.

I say this as the owner of an R6 (which I have had for three years) and whilst I can ride my bike well (by my reckoning anyway) I wouldn't say that I can use 100% of its performance potential. Be honest think about yourself, can you say genuinely that you riding skill is greater than the performance of your (sports) bike? Can you fully command every bit of power that your bike has to offer? If so then I would suggest that you knock on the door of some of the superbike race teams because you must be a very talented rider. For the rest of us I would suggest that you stop worrying about which new 600cc sports bike has the most torque etc, and pick the one you like the look of the best.

Seems to be all the people with R6's who are saying "it doesn't matter what bike you get". Coincidence? Confused Wink .

Yeah good point lol Very Happy Although my R6 is a 2003 model so doesn't apply to whatever the best 2006 600cc sports bike is. But even back when I bought mine in 2003 they were all so closely matched it didn't really matter.

The choice for me came down to looks and it ended up between the GSXR600 K3 and the 2003 R6. I chose the R6 because I liked it marginally better and also due to the fact that the GSXR was about to be replaced by the 'new' K4 model.

what a cock.lol
My point remains the same. I wouldn't be any faster on a kawasaki ZX6R (636) than i am on my R6. But when i'm not riding my R6, i'll enjoy looking at it more than i would the ZXr, simply because it's a far nicer looking bike. The R6 has that something different about it with its styling. The rest of those bikes are just another bunch of plastic looking sports bikes.

Sorry, but the new R6 is like an ugly sloth version of the R1... remember sloth from the goonies...

I think that can be said of any 600 really.

A mate of mine had an R6 a while back, it was on a V plate ('99 I think), I thought it was bloody lovely to ride.
Yeah, a bit uncomfortable round town, but the INSTANT response from the carbs, when you snapped the throttle open, was superb.

that new triumph is tiny thin, but feck me the seat height is reet high compared to the yams, kwak etc.... Personnaly i prefere the look of the gsxr over all the rest, the r6 has the worlds nastiest front end and that numberplate mount is such an afterthough, as is the exhaust! where as the gsxr looks spot on all round, and for that reson thats why i bought a new 636 kwak Laughing Rolling Eyes Laughing
