trikes under 410kilos,
the BMW C1 might be an option bit heavy AND underpowered + the UK government does not like the rest of the EU grant a helmet exemption for it.
reliant robins are 80CC , but by some quirk of the law they don't qualify for no road tax.
or you could just get one of those tents old people put over their mobility scooters that are made of clear plastic....
or just get some heated clothing £100 per body part. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

Mostly wrong infact, itchy.
In the good old days, when you passed your bike test you also got entitlement B1 on your licence. B1 allows you to drive 3 wheelers and stuff.
Sadly you don't get B1 anymore, so you can only ride motorbikes, not any cars.
Read https://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/vehicle_cat_desc.htm , compare the categories on your licence with the categorys there. That's the easiest way to tell what you can drive. ____________________ Yamaha TDM 850 |

Shag , damn those money grabbing greedy cnuts , seems to be a strong correlation between NL scum getting into power (1997) and an increase in tests you have to take.
even worse come 2010 there 125=test then if you wanna 250 another test if you want a 500 another test , ad infinitum.
EDIT ,
so if I were to build a trike I'd have to take a B1 test? or has this category simply vanished?
and no I didn't vote for them ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

If you're getting too cold, then you've probably got the wrong kit.
I rode through most of winter, now have been in the car for the last few days .
You just need to find the right kit that works for you and that side shouldn't be a problem.
Gloves + inner gloves and a BMW suit (cheap, off adtrader) + a thick jumper and face mask did the trick for me.
Cars can still be useful, so worth doing your test, but personally I'd prefer to be a bit colder but not held up an hour if there's a traffic jam .
Oh and I can't afford a car that can wheelie . |

G theres no such thing as wrong kit,
last winter hacking up and down the country on 6 hour jaunts on a bike without screen or fairing , wearing a summer jacket with a ton of vents and just a neck tube and normal leather pants and boots in the rain or what not I managed to survive fine. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I don't get cold ever , a previous job was working in a cold stores and standing round in a freezer , until a customer asked us for a crate or two of ribs, used to piss me off that my pen kept freezing up so that I couldn't sign receipts at the bottom.
I went into work with a light shirt and a thin pair of gloves (not for warmth but abrasion protection as the boxes often chaffed me hands badly). ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I use a Frank Thomas Antifreeze jacket (£90), jeans with a pair of trekking waterproof over trousers (£20), a cheap cotton balaclava (£1), gloves and heated grips last winter. I can honestly say I didn't suffer badly riding 27 miles daily to work last winter, which was allegedly the worst wev'e had for sometime. This year I plan to add a pair of handlebar muffs. I did crash once in the middle of a proper blizzard, which completely paralysed all public transport and kept most people indoors. There have been a couple of times I've felt a bit uncomfortable, when caught out by a hail storm or when the roads were covered with slush. If you respect the conditions, you will be fine. Oh, by the way, heated grips are great, if don't already have them. |

Just wundering, why worry in July?!?!
I quite enjoyed last winter really, i was more prepared as was my second winter and had all the right stuff but still ended up buying loads of extra things.
I found for long journeys lots of layers work, i went to a SE ridout with 4 jumpers on under my winter jacket and was warm as anything, only problem was when you stop you boil!! ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

I was riding for hours during snow and shit...
Apart from a tiny lowside in a carpark I was fine.
Full Hein Gericke textile suit, some all year gloves and I was sorted.
If your hands get cold just hover them over the downpipes, worked a treat for me |
