 |
|
Don't think anything about this crash has been posted before?
copied out from the free local paper, hence typos
| Quote: | A learner motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Putnoe mintues from his home last Friday.
Graham Keable, 19, of Robin Hill in Brickhill was riding a Honda motorbike when it collided with a blue Ford Mondeo in Putnoe Lane, Bedford at around 12.40pm
The male driver of the Mondeo - who was uninjured - was turning into Greenacres from Putnoe Lane before the accident police said.
The teenager was taken to Bedford Hospital South Wing, but died later that day.
Bedfordshire Police added that minutes before Mr Keable had been involved in another incident involving a black Ford Focus.
Officers said that the female driver of that car had stopped outside shops in Chiltern Avenue to allow a Renualt Megane into a parking bay.
After exchanging contact details for insurance purposes, Mr Keable made his way into Pentland Rise and then Putnloe Lane, where the fatal accident happened.
Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the Bedfordshire and Hertforshire Ambulance said :"Our fast response car was first on the scene and the emergency medical technician found a male in a critical condition, so she rapidly began to treat and stabilise him at the roadside........... etc |
I didn't know the person, but my post round passes Robin Hill, altough I don't deliver there, I've ridden down all of those roads mentioned many times, I would almot certainly havedelivered his mail once or twice in the past. I rode down Putnoe Lane just yesterday, and saw the police incident sign, and wondered what it was about.
I have no idea what happened, all I have read is what is in the paper. I do wonder if delayed shock was involved at all..... |

the thing that sticks out is
"Bedfordshire Police added that minutes before Mr Keable had been involved in another incident involving a black Ford Focus. "
I have to wonder what he was doing that day, has he just got a new toy and being a loon.
I was told the highest risk time is just starting out, new bike or just passed test.
Sad loss though |

RIP Dude
You may not like these threads, but for anyone who knows them who may see it, it will mean a lot, and for the seconds it takes to post that chance alone makes it worthwhile,#
Possibility is that some damage was done in the first incudent, leading to brake failure or something in the second incident ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

Make it even harder to get a bike on the road. Great plan.
In terms of Shaun's post and to some extent WoolyR6's, we've had this discussion time and time again. Some guy died. Sorry to sound harsh, but shit happens. Was he a friend of anyone? Not as far as I can work out, so why put it up? Lets put a flip side on this, some of you find Shauns attitude disgusting. Me, I find the kind of mentality that runs around the web finding these "biker died" stories rather disturbing. Does no one else at all think the flurry of "RIP" and "what a sad waste" is a little bit ghoulish and extremely pretentious?
"Look, another downed bro'"
"Oh dear, was he a nice guy?"
"Don't know, I just found this story on the web" |
I thought it was of interest, it happened in my town, and was reported in the local newspaper. I most certainly did not trawl the web looking for some doom and gloom, and I thought that the circumstances unusual and perhaps merited a discussion. I highlighted in bold the part that struck me as being unusual. This being a discussion board with a general bike chat forum....... |

My post was a generalisation thx1138, not specifically aimed at you.
Again, to put a flip side on the "it might mean alot" argument. Has it occurred to anybody that when Little Johnny starts mithering about wanting a 125, BCF is one of the first places Google throws up. Cue Little Johnny's parents researching the best way to get their darling on the road and finding pages and pages of obituaries, accident links and "I fell off, WAY COOL!". Great impression to make, isn't it. Also just as, if not more, likely as someone looking for articles on dead friends or relatives.
I don't particularly care either way, meself. It's why I usually skip these threads totally unless it's a forum regular recounting his tale of personal woe. Just pointing out the other side of the argument, these threads tend to be non-productive and a bad advertisement. ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

Reading about bikers dying didn't have any impact on my riding style whatsoever, it's like somebody warning me about wearing boots. I occasionally wore my trainers, but crashing with boots on made me think "shit, i could have lost my foot if i had trainers on." People never learn by being told. they have to make their own fuck ups, because most people are infallible stubborn little creatures such as myself.
I'm sorry to hear about a biker dying, but there is a weird tendancy to post these things up, and it is actually quite morbid. The next level up is raiding the ogrish archives...

Ah, i'd seen this guy about, Robin Hill is 30 seconds away from where i live too, he had quite a nice little NSR. Anyhow, i've ben informed that the reason he died was because he didn't put his helmet on properly by a friend. It wasn't fastened at the bottom, and when the collision happened it came off and he landed head first, it is a pity and a waste. You can never take your personal safety for granted.
