If we're keeping the for sale section as it is for the moment, how about replacing the reply/quote button with a 'PM' button?
Ideally populate the subject with the thread title and quote the main text, so it's just like replying to the thread.

Of course, we'll still get all sorts of people confused, but it would probably save the 'well, I couldn't be bothered to send a pm, but I would have posted in the thread'.

how about re-enabling the REPLY button?

pwease? i'm dying to rip into some folks selling overpriced tat...NOT
but i would like to see some a return to the old way.

Or, how about giving the thread starter the option of deleting posts under his / her threads!? They they can remove the off topic posts they dont want there etc....

This has been suggested before, however it is also open to abuse as well. Another similar idea suggested is to do it ebay style, but this would require a fair bit of work I expect.

now its been locked for a while, how about opening it up and see if everyone leaves it alone.

if the abuse / crap responses return, then lock it for good and change the button.

just a different viewpoint
