Well, i finally got a bike just over 4 month since my beloved SV became more than one piece Crying or Very sad . If you look back at the thread i did with the POLL i think its pritty close considering there are very different bike to each other.

I would also like to thank of few BCFers for there help as wouldnt have been able to get the bike with their help:

Phantomtek
Went with Dodsi to see the bike and check it was as discribed as was up north so i couldnt myself. He also PMd me when he got back with a long message to keep me well imformed

Davo
Davo offered to drive a van all the way up there to pick the bike up and all the way back again. Also took me up to P+H to get a new Shoei helmet (XR-1000).

Dodsi
Dodsi rode the bike in question all the way down and only asked i paid fuel and a train ticket home. Though the ticket home was £94 due to me buying it only the day before it meant i could get the bike as was no way im in a state to ride that sort of distance yet. Also, thanks to Dodsi that i saved a fair bit of money as he got asking price down a fair bit. Thumbs Up

The bike that i brought was a Z750. I went with the Zed in the end for a number if reasons but mainly due to my arm having problems and wouldnt cope with strain the riding position of a sports bike would make. Also because i found one at a good price.

Heres some photos, unfortantly they are the ones that Dodsi and Joe 2 took as i havnt been able to give it a huge clean but when i do i put some pics in the photo section.

Im not able to ride yet but thought id get another bike to keep me busy so i can get it super craig23 style shiny and something to keep me going from insane when getting the train. I recon that i can start thinking about getting on a bike in 2 months as that would be 6 months since and (although the doctors probably disagree) think thats enough, i could ride now as fit enough but the problem is if i was to come off again, even in 2 months ill have the same problem but i deal with that later Laughing

Oh and i paid £2000 for the bike and specs are:
2004
Newish tyres (bridgestones)
30K miles (fairly high but have been serviced at right intervals till 24000miles - then receipts for oil/filter change at 28k)
R+Gs
Some screen (might take it off as want to feel the wind to i go slower)
Datatool System 3 alarm
scottoiler
front wheel bearings at 30k
radiator grill and radiator side panels (not in pic)
no need till mot till next june

Feel free to comment Thumbs Up

Gorgeous looking bike. I love the way it looks different from other bikes.

Fair play to yourself for getting another bike sorted out so soon. Biking must be in your blood.

Have fun Thumbs Up

Good choice Andy! Razz

So what plans do you for it? Are you just going to tidy is up or do you have some more serious mids planned (suspension etc.)?

Have you recently joined Riderforums? If so, what exhaust are you going to go for? (I'm 2tail on there)

Well having sat on the thing at Squires when I gave Dodsi a lift to collect the bike off Froggygirl, I can say that overall it's a nice looking machine. Could look like new with a few hour work.

The bad areas are nothing a tube of polish, tin of graphited greese, and bit of black engine laquear won't sort out.

Try T-cutting (with 'original' T-cut) the marks on the bikini faring as they look worse than they are. Then follow up with some 'black' T-cut to finish off. You may or may not need some rubbing compound but be carefull with that stuff on a compound curve or you can cut through the high points.

The swing arm chain tensioners just need sanding down, painted in zinc-182 anti rust primer and repainted in something thick like engine laquear - the same can be used on the bar ends.

Dry brush some satin black paint onto the worn marks on the 'plastic' frame covers where the riders knees have worn through. Just enough to cover up the marks

The sub frame where the rear pillion foot peg mount joins is a bit rusty. Brush it off with a wire brush, sand if need be and apply a good thick coat of halfords gloss black engine laquear - it matches kawasaki black frame paint to a T Wink

Do the same on any other marks/rust on the frame.

I still think you shouldn't even contemplate riding it yet until you are fully healed. I recommend you take a trip to the 'bodies' expedition in london see why. But it's your bike, your body, your choice.

Cheers for the comments guys.

HOWEVER probably the most important part of the post i missed out. I wouldnt of been able to get this with the BCF fund that so many of you very kindly donated to. I was amazed at how many poeple chipped in, most had never meet me before.

I kept the money in my account and made a point not to spend it so that all the money donated would go on my next bike.

Cheers to everyone that donated, also it lifted my sprits as that was a hard time for me Thumbs Up

I dont know really. I was looking into the 636 shock as mine looks a little rusty but ill wait till i ride it first as poeple say its "too hard" but on the SV i set the pre-load so not much travel so i may like its feel. If i dont then ill do it i think.

Otherwise just can and link pipe, i really like the Mivv GP round stubby exhuast but no one in UK seems to sell them. The shark ones look good. 'Povics are nice but i like really loud cans Laughing

Yea i have, some good stuff there cheers for telling me about it!! Im "Andy C" so no suprises there then!

Cheers for the tips of getting rid of some of the rust. Theres enough work to keep me busy but didnt want a full blown project to do as my arm just isnt up to it.

And TBH, 2 months is the minium. December was when they said and i think (depending on where i get a job) i could live with that Thumbs Up . I want to ride but dont think i could go though it again and would if i can off even low speed

Well fair play Andy. Its good to see you're taking your return to biking very seriously and I think the Z750 was definatly the sensible option.

From looking at the pics its in very good condition and I wouldnt worry about the mileage at all, as others have said if its properly maintained it will be fine for a while to come.

Well, a few months to go and hopefully by then your body will be ready to jump back on a bike, And when that time comes Id like to meet up and go for a ride one day Thumbs Up

Take it easy,
Jake
