 |
|
Ok. what are the true stats on the NSR 125R?
The website www.nsr125.com claims the biek can do 0-60 in 5 secs with a top speed of around 100mph (looking in the derestriction section of the site)
However, i did a 0-60 on my nsr which is fully derestricted and a UK import (i think) and it did 0 - 60 in about 8 secs, and i have only ever got about 89mph out of it and this was seriously ragging it. It gets to 80mph very easily though.
What have other NSR owners got from their bike? can anyone claim the stats on the NSR are true? |

Stats differ mate.
Just because Honda say you can do 100, doesnt mean that every bike will be able to.
Being a 2 stroke its very suseptable to a number of factors, rider weight, wind conditions etc... What happens to one, wont necesarily happen to yours.
My NSR had full restrictors in it, (exhaust and inlet i believe) and that did 90mph tops realy, but a comfortable 80.
I found the stats from this place (nsr125.com) very similar and accurate to my bike, so was happy with them. ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

also depends on the year your bike was made as i belive Honda changed the CDI after 2002 (remember that argument? )
somthing is keeping the bike slow, my NSR does 0-60 in around 5 secs and can happilly do 100mph i think most other peoples NSR's past and present also hover around those stats...
unless your bike is high mileage or as i said the CDI is the restricted version. ____________________ A scientist crossed a skunk with an owl. He's got a bird that smells but doesn't give a hoot |

check 2 make sure your bike is running fine then. compression, and if your valves r set up correct and clean your airfilter ect. all the small things add up. oh yer and tighten your chain but not 2 tight a losse chain will make u loose acceleration.
iv hit 90 2 times with a very flat back tyre and slightly loose chain and she could had gone more .
it can do 80 easy but thats the max i would do anyway
oh yer and i got very shit compression |

Yup gotta make sure those 2 stroke valves are working ok. Cam chain tension is also a big issue with those 2 strokers..
Good advice code guru
And well done for riding with a flat tyre and a slack chain, even bigger kudos for attempting top speed with it.

ermm mate a stroke petrol engine dont have a cam, so no cam chain. the vavles are the powervale or what ever they get called depending on who made ya bike.
The only way that a bike thats getting on a bit will be as fast as when new will mean that all the little things need doing, the air filter chain tension, engine compresion level and fueling. also that the wheel bearings are in good nick and well greased and the brakes are not slighty dragging or something. still 0-60 in 7 seconds is still bloody fast and you will probs never get a car that can do that ____________________ 2nd time around CBT: 8/9/11

I've seen a vid of a mito hitting 60 in 5.3 seconds. Not sure what pipe or carb was fitted.
Check your VIN with somebody who knows their NSRs, they'll tell you what restrictions it's got. If you can't find any information on the interweb, try your honda dealer.
