Are there any aftermarket adjustable rearsets available for the old (1980's) CBR's? I keep decking out the footpegs on both sides and its wrecking my boots Laughing alternatively a jack up for the rear shock would be cool.

What kinda condition's the suspenders in? Chances are, they're half of your clearence problem.

First thing I'd try is
a) Proper foot positioning - ball of your foot on the peg with the foot along the line of the bike.

b) Hang off more.

Then I'd look at the suspesnion, then I'd consider rearsets.

Think you and Craig are right about the suspension, tis a bit saggy, though not seemingly excessive Confused

I ride with the balls of feet on pegs and sometimes tip toes Shocked depending on the corner. I experimented with hanging off more and keeping the bike more upright but it doesnt suit my style and I end up going slower. Bike isnt worth buying a maxton shock for so I'll have to live with it Confused

If I hang off any more, I fear my elbows will be scraping the deck Laughing I'm going to have to look at getting a plate made up to position the sets higher I think. The exhaust should have enough clearance for the time being... I'm impressed with my speed on the cbr though, just feel like I'm missing out on a lot more Brick Wall expecting too much after the zxr perhaps...

You can get adjustable jack up plates from busters amoungst other places I believe.

Definitely a better way to go than rear sets I would have thought.

I would still definmitely reccomend trying to practice hanging off.
I didn't like the position I was riding in whjile racing on track, so took to hanging off in the 'proper'* way on the road, even on really slow corners.
Yes, I looked like a twat when I was hanging right off while doing 5mph in the company carpark. But it meant it was more instinctive when I was racing, so I had more fun doing that Smile.

Definitely have to hang off on the beemer I've got at the moment - had the engine touch down a couple of times, despite the cacky tyres.

*Whole body hung off, not just arse sticking out leaving torso pointing back towards bike.
