Would it put you off?

I always nod to other bikes. I do it automatically as a matter of habit. A few times now, I've nodded to a group of two riders, one being an L-plater with a bigger bike behind, and it occurred to me today that they are probably out on their test or having a lesson.

If you were on your test and another biker nodded at you, would it put you off or make you feel reassured?

I had other bikers nod to me when I was training and it didn't put me off at all, I loved it. During the test I didn't notice any but I was so focussed (stressed!!) I doubt I would have noticed anyway if someone did nod at me!

ive noticed that pretty much no one ever nods at me when im on my bike. whether its because im still a learner i dont know but when i nod at someone they just carry on

I always nod at learners and people on their test. Often they don't nod back - I remember how difficult it was to concentrate, but the instructor nearly always does

I nod at everyone too. Apart from scooters Most of them are chav 16 year olds

It's good that your replies have all been that it wouldn't put you off if you were doing your test and got nodded at. I had been thinking that if the majority said it WOULD put them off, I would have to try to curtail my nodding!

Hi,

I am planning to take my test in the next few months and would appreciate a nod or 2 while doing my test. It may help me relax!

Unfortunatley I have taken to raising my hand (not quite a wave) rather than nodding (must be a cruiser thing), so would probably be marked down if I done that during my test.

ive heard about this biker nodding thing but ive been out on the roads yesterday and today except from my test these have been the first times but ive not had a nod yet id love a biker to nod at me edit probably because im an l-plate noob on a 50 scooter

i think most "big bike little bike" rides are either tests if they got day glo stuff on or mabye they are the big bike is just "looking after" a mate or relitive on the little bike to give them a bit more confidence on the roads

i only had one guy nod at me when doing my DAS but it made my day, i just realised that he knew i was learning and was going to become a biker and gave me a nod, i was made up.

i found that on my Sr125 anyone I nodded to nodded back, and 50% of bikers(not scooters/peds) i passed nodded to me without me nodding first.
I think its more of a clothing thing as well, I always wear a leather jacket, regardless of the heat, and i think that other bikers appreciate that while i may be on an L plate, i've got a head screwed on to my shoulders. i've been out once in a tshirt and i got ignored all the way.
Since I got the GT i've noticed a big increase in the amount of people nodding me.
