My understanding that the baffles are for sound deadening. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

A sports exhaust just allows the combusted gases to exit the bike more efficenetly that the standard can, by removing the baffles you may make it a little bit easier for the gases to escape hence a few more bhp.
To be honest, I'd just leave it as one or the other. It seems a messy or pointless exercise to be removing and replacing the baffles. Long term damage to these may occur with the constant handling and refitting. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

By having a less restrictive exhuast system (baffle out) your bike will flow more air, making it run slightly leaner. If the bike is jetted for the can with the baffle out then putting it in will make it run on the rich side, no big problem really. The above presumes you have a carbed bike, (it does always help to say what bike you are talking about) If you have EFI then for a difference as small as baffle removal it should adjust itself. I doubt taking the baffle in and out would damage the engine, but baffles arent designed to be taken in and out that often so I'd be more concerned about physical damge like stripping the threads out of the baffle. If I were you I'd either ride with it out all the time, and just pootle along at low revs approaching your home and place of work, or put up with it being in place all the time. ____________________ Bluespark Automotive - Diesel Tuning for Performance and Economy |
