I'd like to use my mini dv camcorder attached to a bulletcam on the track.

However the bike is a 2001 cbr600f and the camcorder doesnt fit under the seat. If i was to obtain a small tail pack and put the dv camera in there, would most trackday organizers be happy for me to use it?

Any other suggestions for "concealing" the mini dv camera?

I wouldn't fancy your chances of many allowing it.

How big's your camcorder? Mine fits under the seat, just.

I havent actually tried to get the camera under the seat, but hers the dimensions:

Width 6.9 cm
Depth 14.3 cm
Height 9.4 cm
Weight 0.5 kg

how does that compare to your cameras size?

You dont think they will allow a small tailpack on track?

I never thought mine would fit until I actually tried it - give it a go. Shove it right up the back, where the taillight is. Mine's probably bigger than yours, certainly longer with the huge battery pack I've got.

They're not going to allow anything that could fall off, tailpack is definitely in that category.

Hi,

I recently bought an Oregon Scientific ATC-1000 Bulletcam.

It's completely self contained and records directly to a SD memory card.

Ideal for trackdays and comes with lots of mounting options.

I'd recommend that you get one ASAP (and some decent NiMh batteries).

Only does 15fps though, I thought?

From what I've seen I thought it was a bit jerky for decent trackday footage?

It's got 3 resolution settings and goes up to 20 fps on medium resolution.

I believe PAL standard is only 25 fps.

I was looking into those on eBay, but turned them down for the low fps rate.

Have you got any track footage from it?

Hi,

I'm down to one bike at the moment, CCM R30.

I got the ATC-1000 about a week ago.

It's advantages are simplicity, all in one constructiion and supplied fitting kit.

Disadvantages are that it is very basic quality footage, ok for websites etc.

The only footage I've got is from nutting it through country lanes.

I use a RF Concepts Sony EXCCD bulletcam recording on either my canon minidv camcorder or straight to an Archos AV4100 for quality footage.

I've also got a sony Hi-8 camcorder (with oversize battery) on a tank mount for slapping on other people's bike or for rear facing usage (also a headstock camera mount that accepts any of my cameras).

If you want quality footage, spend the money.

If you want user friendly, cheap and cheerful, buy an ATC-1000.

I don't intend to use the ATC for high quality capture, which is lucky because it doesn't do it (it's very good at what I bought it for though).
