starter clutch cover gasket?

This makes me sound like a complete tool but anyway....

A very very small ammount of engine oil is leaking from my clutch cover. well i say clutch cover... thats a guess! Firstly can you ideanify the parts described and secondly does anyone know of any mail order places that i can get a gasket for this from?

if it is the starter cover and the area's not subject to high internal compression then you can make your own gasket from carboard or similar.

i make a water pump gasket for my CRM from a weetabix box. never had problems with it since

would oil not just seep through cardboard after a while?

there wouldnt be any oil under pressure behind the started cover.

thats wierd then because its leaking and hitting the inside of my fairing and dripping down. i'll try to take a picture tonight, might be easier to identify!

Leaking from the bottom slightly so i need a new gasket as oil is slowly leaking out the bottom of my fairing. not good.
1) Whats the name for this part
2) where can i get a gasket for it? (net/mail order if poss as i dont have time to get to shops often)
3) how do i change it. is it just undo bolts, re-do bolts?

Is that the crank cover?

It shoud be a simple job of undoing the bolts (they may be as hard as nails to move), get covered in oil, replace the gasket and tighten bolts again.

Most dealers should have the part ready and waiting if its a new bike.

I managed without changing my gasket (its gonna bite me in the end I know), it was quite hard to explain what I wanted over the phone as all parts are ordered by its part number. Get the wrong number, get the wrong part and start all over again.

ive found https://www.wemoto.com/ which does all parts mail order so when i find what it it for definate i can order it.

Anyone care to name that part for definate?

thats not the same part though is it? wheres the removable centre bit?

woohoo, its a starter clutch cover. There are 2 gaskets, an inner and an outer. both 7.45 each. both ordered from https://www.sparesdirect.co.uk who were very knowledgeable and specialise in suzuki. They even went through the fitting procedure etc.

So, assuming you have three seperate metal covers there (let's call 'em North, West And East), you reckon you've ordered the bits for "east"? Or are North and east actually connected together?

hopefully you'll get one round looking gasket and one figure 8 looking gasket.

i believe north and east are connected. west is irrelevant as thats separate.
All im worried about now is when i take the cover off will springs and god knows what fly out?!

You should be fine - you'll expose the starter motor gubbins and the end of the crankshaft, but it's unlikely that you will actually cause anything (other than the cover plates) to come loose.

My one bit of advise would be to buy a good quality allen key socket for to get those bolts out. i.e. expect to pay 3-4 quid for just one from halfords.

They are done up tight and took a bit to persistant pulling and pushing to loosen them. Just be nice and gentle when you remove the casing and things should nt fall or ping out.

I bought a set of keys for the hefty sum of £3.99 from Halfords and promptly bent them up You get what you pay for
