Problem With NC30

I was riding my VFR and When I whacked the throttle, it promptly died and since then simply refused to start. I have no idea what the problem could be! Knackered CDI? or could it be something smaller? Please Help!

Perhapt the throttles broke after you whacked it. Shocked

Well I've taken out one of the spark plugs to see if its working. and there was no spark at all. and all the throttle cables are intact

I used a workshop manual and tested the whole electric system and ignition and there is no problem there. But there is still no spark. the coils, leads, plugs and all the fuses are okay.

Remember you need petrol for your bike to move lol. Seriously though you'll need to give more info, how long were you riding for when it died? Did you try bumping it? What happens when you press the starter key? Does the engine turn over or is there no sound?

No spark on all 4 plugs? suspect a problem in the low tension side of the electrics.

Have you looked at the various ignition kill circuits (kill switch, sidestand switch...)

The motor turns over but there is no spark. I tested the Coils, spark plugs, plug leads, Pulse generator, even the neutral switch and it all works

all the switches work fine. I've checked them all aswell.

Using a car battery with jump leads and a new plug, you get no spark on all 4?

You tested the switches, did you test the wiring connected to the switches?

ive tested the whole electric system. the wires all of it. But there is no spark

How did you test the battery? With a multimeter?

yes i did it with a multimeter and the battery is fully charged

Well, there's your first mistake right there. You can't test a battery under full load (as it is when the starter is running) with a multimeter. You've only tested it with little or no load which tells you diddly squat.

And it gets worse: Being fully charged means that the battery is holding as much charge as it's capabale of holding. If the battery is on it's last legs, that's not necessarily enough to actually start the bike.

So car battery, jump leads and a new plug. Tell us how you get on.
