hello,

shouldn't be a problem, just wondering,
how would i do the gear linkage?
i mean, how was korn gonna do his, i sent him a PM 3 days ago and no reply,
like positioning the gear stick next to the steering wheel isnt a problem but how am i gonna make it link to the gear box and make the gears like they are in a car...
basically i want to know how to do the gear linkage...any ideas?
ive looked on the net and found nothing help full
many thanks

Gear linkages are dead easy to sort out once you've got the thing bolted to a chassis that's halfway decent. You just need to sort out the linkage directions etc. Racecar linkages are never straightforward but there are loads of ways around it.
It's not that hard, you just need to get it built up first then approach the problem when you know what you've got to overcome. ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

Nick you should've asked me. (he knows me)
Look at a bike, any bike (not your minimoto) and look at the gear lever, see how it is connected to the engine (Well the crank casing etc) by a rod that moves when you click the lever up and down. What you would do is have something like this rod but longer going to the front where you have a hand (or foot) lever connected to it that you move up and down (1 down 5 up) like gears on a bike.
I have seen this today on my friends old kart that is rusting in his field.
I am gonna build something like this at some point, but it'll have a turbo'd, supercharged, NOS'd, bored, tuned ZZR1400 engine in it. Fo Shizzle Or Two CR500 engines ____________________ Present: GS650 Katana - Getting ready for summer touring!

You're going to build a bike engined kart and the thing that worries you most is the gear lever? You have a lot to learn. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

Right ive got a general idea. You couldent have a "gearstick" persay that you would see in a car, however you COULD have a stick attatched to a massive gear linkage, pull the stick back into first (only back and forward movement in the stick) then push forward into 2nd, forward into 3rd, so on and so forth, simple. ____________________ Will work for petrol
