What to do about it ?
Batteries apparently can burst into flames for Dell laptops
I have a 2005 Lattitude C640 , I didn't buy it , I gave me dad a few bob to go get it for me , it was from legit place (no really I have a CoA) he can't remember where he got it from and the receipt in my laptop bag has faded so that it is just a plain white sheet o paper.
What should I do? considering it no longer uses winxp which came with it and has win2k (which I actually own), do I have some sort of consumer right to bring it back to dell or just hack out the battery and send it in for a replacement?
Any suggestions?
Thanks. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

I'm checking all these at work today. Dell will just swap the battery out. Just pull the battery out and get the details off the back. You can check online if it's a duffer or not. Here's the link

Dell vendors won't swap without proof of purchase, but anyone should be able to go direct to Dell, give em serial number of the battery, and they'll do with it whatever needs doing... have sent 15 in so far to be swapped... ____________________ FAB-Racing MiniMotoSidecars - Back with a vengeance - F1 Class 2011...

Its batterys produced by Sony for Dell models made after 2004 IIRC, so most D series Latitudes and equivilant Precisions etc...
Dell are always really good with recalls, some may remember there was a mass recall of the C series power supplys, I returned over 100 units with no problems ____________________ Mutley - 1988 Austin Mini City - Blog
