Good posts Colin…..unfortunately they will be ignored by all the useful people
I’ve just read through some posts in the FFW section, what the hell is all that about…..I missed a lot of it.
I didn’t reply because I know it won’t make any difference now but it’s the same wankers as always, talking shite
Luke posts so much, why isn’t he the attention whore?
Why not PM Dragonfly all that shit and let her decide if he is right?
I’d say that there are some people on this forum who are pretty much lone rangers, but they put in a lot of effort to be accepted, and that can be tough.
It’s been said on numerous occasions that some individuals have had no chance sticking their ground because when 3-4 or more members who know each other personally or have met a few times on meets put in their two pennies, to a Noob it can seem quite threatening and make them feel bad about themselves.
Possibly bullying…….
Yeah it’s only the internet and some have stuck it out and accepted that some of the mods are pricks, some groups are complete wankers to deal with but in the end some bike chat has been proved decent enough to stay. The general manner on the forum can be hard to pick up as a new member because there are so many sections now, if you get something wrong you could be in for some nasty replies, name calling and piss taking, it usually comes from idiots who have some members backing them up.
When I first got here I posted in reply to anyone about anything but as Colin said, if a bit of piss taking goes to far things can be said about an individual that indeed could be seen as internet bullying, some things have been said in the past I really didn’t mean, and I’m sure the member/s on the receiving end think so to.
I don’t know Luke at all, don’t know his GF, I don’t care, the guys here say he’s ok and I believe them.
He did call me a wanker many times for posting things I found on the net in the section, ‘found on the net’ which I ignored because I was doing nothing wrong, it could have provoked something but I’ve been here long enough to know the consequences.

All the members who have been here for a length of time won’t be banned for just a few insults or threats to another member…..god no!, as you become a more established member you can get away with more, more so if you know some members personally and further more if you are a mod. Generally speaking they won’t abuse frantically, but the backing is enough to make anyone think they should leave.
The rules to new members are there to be seen, the rules talk of language, typing and karma, karma plays a big part in this forum (otherwise it wouldn’t be here) so gold karma does mean something and it’s not just about how much you post. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Ask a stupid fuckign question, get stupid answers I say…….
The reason it is stupid hopefully came across in my post, I’m annoyed that yourself, an intelligent, established member who along with some others have stuck your head in a few insulting threads said a few things and left, can’t see why the fuck this happens.
I’ve been here long enough for that opinion G, I rarely pipe up about this so allow me a single post on the matter why don’t you, after all, you are a mod.

I don’t know why Luke comes on here, it makes me wonder what his reasons are, and the threads in FFW complete the not so complicated jigsaw. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Im a member on alot of forums and this is the only bike one where these sort of issues ever seem to arise, they turn up all the time on online games sites especially.
I do like this forum but for me I have to treat it like a games forum nothing I read can be taken to seriously, I used to before I understood BCF , but no longer.
It's just a culture that's on some forums, a forum is shaped by the attitude of the dominant core members.
This forums seems to have a much younger group of core members to others, doesn't make it bad or good just different.
Im not taking sides it just how I see it. |

I'd amend that slightly, similarly to alot of gaming forums there is a large core of young male posters here that post alot in comparison to the older bunch. This gives a slightly distorted view of the whole demographic, leastways that's how I see it.
I have no particular issue with the moderation or lack of it here (then again, I prefer forums with little or no moderation, hard to manage with something this size though in fairness). I see the karma system as being relatively useless on the whole purely due to the fact that little cabals spring up and the karma of any given individual can be distorted and manipulated so very, very much. I seem to remember that Babyyam, Stinkwheel et al proved just how fast it was possible to get a high karma value shortly after they "invaded"
Treat others as you would wish to be treated is a good rule of thumb. It doesn't take anything from me to not post in, or even to just not read threads from users that I think are cretins. Why bother reading something just so you can post something derogatory? Met a few people from the forum, they seemed OK. The ones I actually have time for are now on my friends list. The drama, stropping and belligerence is vaguely amusing at the moment though. Certainly been coming here more regularly than I have in a while, there's even some half decent discussion going on in one or two threads. Whatever though, with something this size I'm sure that unless Korn pulls the plug for whatever reason, BCF will keep on rolling regardless of attention seeking hissy fits. ____________________ I'm immortal. Don't you mean low? I have the distiction of getting 3 red blobs on this forum on my first day registered before I'd actually posted anything, which I am quite proud of........ I don't think Stinkwheel did quite that well, but then he did register about an hour before me and got to put some words down!
I'm not sure how all this bollocks got quite so out of hand these last couple of days to be honest.
Colin is quite right in what he says up there. Colin, do you remember when I accidentally "internet bullied" you? It started as a light-hearted and somewhat drunken joke, then other people picked up on it and it really went stupid. I still feel bad about it, even though we sorted it out in the end. But that's what happens, people jump in "for a laugh" and don't really think about the consequences of what they are posting until it's too late. Or don't care.
People react to different situations in different ways but at the end of the day it is only words on a page. No matter how many people from here you go out and meet in real life, this is still just a discussion forum and it's not really that important in the grand scale of things.
Tell you what I really hate though, internet flouncers. You know, like Vespa. If you don't like the forum or the stuff that's being said about you then yeah, don't read it, maybe even don't come back. It's your choice. But FFS don't start a thread to announce your departure then keep sneaking back (even if you have created another account for the purpose) to see who has been "on your side". That's really sad.
Jeez, yo ucan tell the weather's gone crap again, there was none of this when it was warm and sunny and we were all out on our bikes all the time! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Rightly or wrongly a lot of people use the ‘Pub’ analogy when it comes to Forum use.
Would you attempt to take centre stage immediately after introducing yourself to a group of people?
Would you engage people in an ongoing conversation where you had nothing to offer to in an attempt to gain recognition?
It’s all about getting your feet under the table and introducing yourself gradually. The unwritten rules of Forum engagement (I dunno where that phrase came from!) do exist and on the whole are abided by hence the success of this and other sites. When you get someone who runs at it like a bull at a gate then it’s only natural that they’re gonna be alienated by some forum Members and subsequently six billion threads (OK, 2 or 3) will appear debating the treatment of (naming no names as usual ) him/her/it. ____________________ Mellow Yellow
