The tattiest, cheapest car that does the job.

"The job"
- It has to be reliable and cheap to run.
- There has to be enough room for all the junk I drag around with me when I am going to Guides / orchestra / outdoors-y stuff
- It must be comfortable for long journeys on the motorway
- I need to listen to music for these long motorway journeys
- Cost the minimal amount to run.

With these key points in mind I made the executive decision to purchase a

Citreon Xantia 1.9TD SX

A tank-like vehicle, with the looks of a roadkill rabbit, metallic snot green in colour and the performance of a sloth on weed.
However, it has hydraulic suspension and a groovy little leaver that allows me to raise or lower the suspension... I'll never grow tired of that! Laughing

Cheap, cheerful. Piece of piss to work on. And annoys the hell out of Nova Chavs!

Trying to source the MGF 1.8VVC lump to drop in.

Hehe, it does kind of 'glide' along, espcially over speed bumps which incidentally are best tackled at an optimum speed of 36mph. It also wallows and pitches and rolls around corners in a boat-like manner, but that's by the by... who cares if you feel slightly sea sick after a series of roundabouts?

Going for a shiney new-ish one?

I've got a 1.8 laguna rn (bottom of the range), that I quite like and has kept going for the last couple of years well enough. Could do with a bit less body roll, though.

I drive my girlfriends Peugot 106 and I tend to horribly over-rev the poor little thing.
It's not a bad car for pootling around but bits just fall off it all the time, like a tree in autumn - french.
