just to make sure (better safe than sorry ) re-filling the coolant back in the engine has to be done with the engine running and the coolant cap off rite? filling up the filler tank to max letting the engine run up to temp and re-fill to the max when the level drops(but not letting it empty) untill the coolant returns to the tank then top up to the max mark?? ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

it doesnt have to be done while running,
its probly better to do it while its not,
fill it up go for a ride(don't thrash it just yet )
let it get to full temp, then come back, let it sit for 10 mins so the radiator isn't under pressure, then retop it up, that little run should have forced all the air out of the system, ____________________ the humans are dead

Sounds like yer waterpump or thermostat is dodgy. Waterpump should be engaging at 60 deg C-ish and start pumping. ____________________ FAB-Racing MiniMotoSidecars - Back with a vengeance - F1 Class 2011...

If radiator has a cap... Mito doesn't so not a clue on SuperCity... then yes, fill radiator, fill expansion chamber, take it for a run. ____________________ FAB-Racing MiniMotoSidecars - Back with a vengeance - F1 Class 2011...

its all done now, but temp is sitting at approx 79*c/80*c is this normal?
whats the normal running temp for a 2stroke engine?
also just looking at the engine from the clutch side and just happen to notice that the oil to the carb from the pump was all but empty i managed to get all the air out the system and ran the engine again and all is well no air bubbles just oil ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

Take it that's idling sat still??
Running and on the road, around 60 to 70 degrees is usual for a Cagiva bike with their oversized rads...
Sat still outside idling for an hour should see it hit 80 deg and keep on rising. When bike is sat still, there is no airflow moving thru the radiator to remove the heat from the water, so temp will continue to climb til it gradually overheats.
Take it out for a ride and see if it levels off back down to middle of the guage-ish once there's some air moving thru the radiator. ____________________ FAB-Racing MiniMotoSidecars - Back with a vengeance - F1 Class 2011...
