I could watch anything I wanted.

I watched The Blob was I was 5 years old.

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have because all the scary films I watched really did scare me silly and were the cause of many a nightmare.

The Exorcist, which came out when I was about 13 or 14, I think.

So I read the book instead (under the bedcovers with a torch, LOL).

I went to a really strict convent with nuns and stuffy old witchy type Catholic teachers, and although they were fairly modern in terms of catechism (I think it was just after "Vatican 2" so they liked to think they were being the approachable face of Catholicism)

But they were very "hellfire and brimstone" about that film ... so we had to pass the book around without getting caught, it got somewhat dog-eared in a very short time.

Didn't get to see it until I was about 21 Rolling Eyes

When I was about 10 the film First Blood came out, and it was the film that you just had to have seen to be "cool" at the time. I couldn't watch it then due to my age, and TBH I still haven't bothered to watch it all the way through Smile

It all seems tame now, but I was'nt allowed to see Jaws. I would have been maybe 12 years old when it came out. Its still one of my top 5 films.

When I was 8 or 9 my older brother rented Goodfellas from the video shop. My mum said we were under no circumstances to watch it. She went out leaving us with a babysitter, who allowed to watch it no questions asked. She came home around midnight with us staring avidly at the screen as Harvey Kietel slits the wig man's throat from the back seat of the car. Laughing
