So I need as much help as I can get really, the bike siezed up while I was riding it (that was not a fun experience)

my dad came and rescued me about an hour after I'd stopped, we managed to get the piston moving again, but it doesnt sound or feel right, and the bike doesnt seem to be mixing any oil with the fuel at all, we put some oil into the tank and mixed it up, and ran it that way.

So basically I need to know what do I need to buy to rebuild the top end of the engine, and any ideas on where to buy the parts from.

Also if anyone could shed some light as to why my oil pump has stopped mixing the 2 stroke oil in, that would be appriciated.

many thanks,

You Will have to strip the engine fully to see what you need and take the oil pump off to see if it's goosed. then ring around for prices also try to look for donor engine

hope that helps Dave

no , dont trust him . generally seized engine will go again with a top-end rebuild . it's only in case of worn crank (gearing or big end) that you need to take engine off . the workshop manual is avaiable here https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRmanualDOC.zip (64 Mo)
then your spares https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk or phone to TIM 01728833020 . a list is joined here

just a little thing to know : when you will dismount the valves , the nut on the valves shaft is a left thread (undo clockwise) and break easily if you force too much (the shaft cost £18)

a new oil pump is quite expensive (£60-70) ref 15100 KY4 904 , but i will not trust ,as i rebuild top-engine, a second hand one . this part break very rarely , but ..........
i suggest you take it out and check if the pinions work . to check if the oil goes through , undo the pipe (at the pump) going to the carb run 2-3 mn with oil mixed and see if the oil pour . if yes check if the entry in the carb is not blocked .
but if you've used your usual oil , what has happened is normal . you require mixing oil at 3% . most of seizure come from a lean mixture , lack of oil surely , quality of oil sometimes

I will do those checks on the oil pump, thanks for finding the oil pump, but its the wrong type for my bike i dont have a foxeye (i think anyways..)

I've discovered i've been running semi-synth, thats gone in the bin and ive bought some fully synth, castrol gt stuff,

by having a look at the oil pump there seems to be a screw attached to the throttle cable that determins how much fuel/oil is allowed through, and this has shaken itself loose in a way that oil flow has been restricted, so there should be hope for the pump yet,

safe to say after this i will be checking everything on my bike once a week

the oil pump is quite easy to adjust . open pump cover , you will see a plate with a cable . on this plate it's a mark , in the pump is a projection . turn your right handle at maximum acceleration (engine off) and look if the mark is on line with the projection . if not use the adjuster on the cable entry

i've lined the pump up properly, it looks like it will work fine now,

your manual has been a great source of help i cant thank you enough for it!

i got my piston out, it appears to have tried to weld itself to the barrel (think thats what its called), lots of large gauges and scrapes down it, so im getting a new one and a new barrle, the crank is fine as is the rest of the bike, so this shouldnt be too expensive a rebuild hopefully.

although my piston rings snapped :/

Im just waiting on David Silver spares to send me the parts, if im lucky they'll be here on friday Praying Praying

£160 isnt bad (inc p&p and tax),

Im just going to repaint my exhaust in the mean time (Ive got some high temp paint), to give me something to do Razz

it's not my manual , but you can also download https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc
did you take off valves & shaft ? if not , you must , to put back on your new barrel and they must be cleaned as new (mind the shaft nut which is a left-hand thread , undo clockwise)

ok ,
take off cable guide cover , dismount cables
introduce a diameter 6 rod in the notch on the guide plate and in the hole on the base guide in order to block the plate turning . undo the nut clockwise , take out the plate .undo the 2 bolts which hold the base guide on the barrel , then take the base guide out . take off the oil seal (you can destroy it because it's hard to take off and you'll have an other one) . put back the shaft nut to protect the thread , then pull firmly the shaft off the barrel (can be hardly stocked sometimes) and now your valves will fall and a cleaning work in prospect

some of the parts are different between then, for instance i bought an nsr125rr rear sprocket thinking they'd be the same, but the nsr125r uses bolts, where as the nsr125rr is just pushed into the wheel without any bolts.

i do not understand what you mean , all sprockets bolts fixing are the same since the RK (1989) until the last R1 (2001) . only size of sprockets has change
