I do agree with you to a certain extent, people are allways way to quick to blame other people, the two times i come of both have been my fault.
However there are still dick heads that drive on the roads, and to be honest 'Chavs as such are people you need to look out for' i find bus drivers and prats that dont look for you when pulling out the worst. People washing their windscreen is a pain in the ars but most people wouldnt even realise the bike behind would get covered, and if you stick your visor down or slow down a bit to increase the gap you will be fine. But i love riding and would never stop, so these things have to be put up with and youve just gotta get on with your life, rather than moan all the time and let it wind you up into a frenzy. ____________________ My Bike Pics |

I always think that if car drivers are such a problem to you, it doesn't say much for your riding skills. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

good god be carefull....that nearly sounds like an honest common sense post....on the internet!!
seriously do agree with you,
maybe its because there are so many bikers moaning about other road users and unwilling to take responsibility for there own riding skills (or lack of) that bikers get a bad name? ____________________ small willy fast bum

It's because they've all fallen into the trap that it's ok to blame someone else for their ineptitude, rather than actually stand up and take responsibility for their own actions and general fuckwittery.
The sooner people start to take their own lives into account the less whining and bitching there will be! ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

I disagree. There is a great deal of what I would term "Rank bad driving" on the roads of the UK.
People fail to look when pulling out of junctions, indicate the wrong way on roundabouts, indicate their intention to turn right or left by slamming on the brakes, make sudden lane changes on motorways without reference to the mirrors or indicators.
Furthermore, they sit in the fast lane of empty motorways, drive down the bloody NSL coast road near me in processions at 40mph while gawping at the scenery, they spill diesel all over the carriageway, throw lit cigarette butts at me, overtake when I'm sat in the crown of the road indicating right, they drive round corners at 25mph while constantly dabbing the brakes then accelerate to 80 on the straights and try to force me off the road when I'm riding my small bike.
In fact, every time I go out on my bike, someone makes an attempt to kill me. I consider this normal now and expect it, I'd be dead otherwise. Doesn't mean I have to like it. |

arent you taught never to take another road users actions for granted and always assume they will do the worst in any given situation?
i was. both when learning to drive a car and when i was learning to ride a motorbike.
you cant affect what other road users are going to do so armed with the information above the responsibility falls upon us ourselves to take the necessary precautions at all times.
anything over and above that which results in an accident or worse can only be seen as not taking the necessary precautions in that given situation IMO of course. ____________________ duck my sick! |

I agree with the OP in part that sometimes there tends to be trend from time to time for accident prone riders to try and lay the blame elsewhere and unfortunately there ability to learn from such incidents will be great hindered by such an atttiude.
However I think that such stereotypes are often warranted.
After all hows is a stereotype created in the first place.
It's born out of common or regular experience.
In saying that I think such stereo types relating to vehicles/drivers or even riders which are often invovled in causing an accident or near miss can be used as a tool to promote awareness and defensive riding.
So I'd say in a strange sort of way these posts can have a small benefit to others.
I also think it's good to vent from time to time as per the original intention of this post I believe.
It would just be nicer to see it done a little more constructively ____________________ meh |
