Hey, on ebay there seem to be alot of what I assume to be import bikes being sold BRAND NEW! They seem very tempting for first time buyers I believe as you get a brand new bike for quite cheap.
Was just wondering if any one owns or knows about brands like:
Kinroad & Lifan
As they are cheaper I expect the build quality is much lower? Basically I was wondering if they are a pile of shyt or not.

I think Dragonfly rides a Lifan?
Never heard of them tbh - I'd stick with the regulars.

Dont buy a lifan! they fall to bits, i have had to replace alot on that bike as it was built with cheap parts. The engine is ok on them but the rest wont last. Mine wasnt even put together right i dont think. My wheel alighment is all messed up and gear box at the moment and i have a 3 year old lifan. You cant get parts for them anywhere! alot of hassel, better off with a name you know and can get parts for. ____________________ All the breast.

i dont think 3 months is enough time to see how bad they can get.
not that all chinese bikes will be the same but the majority are poorly made and tend to fall apart and rust quite quickly.
also, do you think 50 miles is enough to be able to comment on the condition of the oil?
forgot we were talking about similar @ https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=92801 ____________________ duck my sick! |

I am trying to get another bike for mine but no one will take the lifan off me its in good nick and its shinny and all. *coughs* ____________________ All the breast.

Guy at work came in on one today that he bought in a crate and registered himself. It's got 32 miles on the clock and rust breaking out all over the frame. |

Yes watch out. I bought a GY 125 Off E-bay £650.
Nice looking bike - I passed my test and managed to sell it for more than I paid.....just in time as it was breaking out in rust
Dont think I would risk it again. It is a shame they rust so easily as the Engine is good ____________________ Honda Novio, Puch Grand Prix, Suzuki AP50, CZ 125, Wassell 125, Montesa 348,Honda 125TDC, Suzuki 100ER, Suzuki GSF650 Bandit, Aprillia Pegaso, Honda PCX125, Honda Forza300, BMW G310 GS, Suzuki SFV650, Honda CB500X

Don't buy one. The heap of shite I bought a couple of year ago is due for its first MOT next year. I'd be astounded if it passed. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I've brought a AJS Regal Raptor (125) at the beginning of the summer and to be honest I'm well impressed. Bit of a bugger to keep the Chrome clean, and for a 4stroke 125 I can get 60 MPH out of it without issues... (And trust me, I aint a small bloke!!)
To top it off, it cost me £1200 brand new from a dealer in Cwmbran. It's due for it's first service about now, and not a single problem has been had with it... All weather riding as well!!
(I must admit though, that sprokets are to be changed during the service just to help it along a bit better!!)
This is the bike (DD125E)... https://www.ajsmotorcycles.co.uk/docs/Raptor/Docs/Frame%20set1.htm ____________________ A Man's Rule of Thumb:

If I bought a one of these chinese 125s for commuting, and it managed to last 3 yrs..ie the duration of not worrying of having to get an MOT, I'd be more than happy
Cheap way of getting into biking
I'd be more than happy in dumping it in a skip if it doestn't pass the MOT after the 3yrs..
I saw one close up today...although the quality isn't up with the likes of the jap bikes, it does look ok for the £895 they are asking on Ebay.
£895 for 3 years biking.......cheap as chips!
mind you, I would probably go over the whole bike from new, and tighten/threadlock nuts and bolts before taking it out. ____________________ BMW R1200GS & Honda Fireblade 929RR

There is a place in Wigan that imports Jinlun cruisers and will sell them fully loaded with extras for around £1000 new. They give warrenty and offer after sales parts too.
A few of our members have them and they are happy with what they got for their money after 12 months. ____________________ A good ride-out is not about getting your knee to the ground...
