If the insurance dudes want proof of restriction then you will have to take it to a shop for it doing.
I'm told that only an approved 'workshop' can do it and they MUST inform the DVLA of the restriction...then the DVLA (or the workshop..one of them) give you a certificate which in turn you send a copy to the insurance company.
Also....i aint sure what a restrictor looks like but some goon at work told me they are 'sealed' which wax so if this seal is missing...its easy for the boys in blue to see if it is actually restricted or not (whether you can show a certificate or not)
Did that make sense? 5 tins of beer, 1 1/2 bottles of white wine and still going strong ....no work for rest of the week but got a 200 mile ride tomorrow at 10am |

It's not a question of being stopped by the police IMO although they can take your bike away to get it checked if they want, but it's usually too much faff.
It's more a case of if you crash or get crashed into the insurance company are very likely to check it so they don't have to pay out. esp if you kill/injury another person it's the same as being uninsured. So prison, fines and shite food follows. Is it really worth it for waiting 3-8months or your life then enjoy the ZX7 to the full.
My suggestion is to SORN the ZX7 until the summer. Do your accelarated access in december on a training school ER-5 or whatever then get the ZX7 back on the road for March and rock on throughout the summer nice and legally.
That's my 2 cents. ____________________ My Flickr |

im really intrested in this, so if you have a provisional theoretically with 12 points on it, what happens when you pass your test? does it get revoked straightaway? if so thats gotta be a winner for UK's stupidest law! |
