Intimidating moment in the car last night

Last night I went with my girlfriend to Cineworld in Yeovil to watch Crank (which was a completely awesome film btw). Got out of the cinema at about 9.30PM and started to head home, was in a 30 limit doing 30 when this white astra which had been boy-racered up it seems was really tailgating me, I did the advised and slowed down to increase the braking distance, he was still up my arse though.
Had to go straight over the roundabout and he tried overtaking me here which had me quite pissed off but then he backed off. Was then in a NSL area and was doing about 60 and he dropped back about 100 metres, thought he must have developed some sense when we came up to a roundabout he sped right up and braked really hard behind me, in the pouring rain, of which I thought he was going to smack right into the back of the car. Now I don't really think I was scared, my girlfriend was and I was worried for her but my adrenaline was pumping, however I am relatively good at keeping my anger down so we went out separate ways, I had to pull into a lay-by to calm down because my driving was getting quite bad cause of the ordeal.

It really pissed me off and almost ruined an absolutely fantastic evening, people like that shouldn't have ever got a licence, if they did have one. I did think about what would have happened had I been on the bike, but in hindsight I don't think even he would have been twattish enough to do that.

Imagine if it was an old lady in my position, she would have had a bloody heart attack. Anyway just thought I would share that experience with you guys.

You gotto to let things like that pass over your head though as i bet he wasnt a bit annoyed at what he done and you are still fumming and there nothing you can do about it. When i meet bad drivers i just scurse a bit and carry on as it used to get my blood pumping and theres no point on putting myself through stress for them. Two finger sign some cursing to getthe stress out will do, dont bottle it up.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Someone doing 15 in a 30, I go to overtake, indicated, they speed up to 60! I drop in behind, they go right down and nearly stop, I go to overtake again but I'm ready for them and don't try, they just speed up again.

My turn off is coming up so I slow down and wrench into the junction without indicating. They turn as well even though he'd gone past the junction. He mounted the pavement and narrowly missed a stone wall to follow me. He starts riding right up my arse, flashing his lights. Right now if I had a gun I'd go on a mercy killing, but I didn't so I turn again into a cul-de-sac where a friend lives and jump out of my car. He didn't follow me though.

I was absolutely livid, I wanted to destroy something, but my gf just found the whole thing quite funny.

main point was i was driving a company pool car so didnt really give a fuck if he hit me anyway, he was most surprised when he eventually got infront of me and tried to force me off the road by steering toward me that i didnt move!

Something an ex-courier mate of mine used to to whilst being tailgated (whilst on the bike) was have a small can of chain lube handy and spray it at the offending vehicle's windscreen.

The driver would then wash the screen and the whole thing would emulsify.

He said it always got rid of them (probably because they had to stop as they could see bugger all). Never done it myself, tho...

if it's obvious that slowing to create a safe distance doens't work, then just pull over and stop, or turn off the road. make out like yuo were stopping anyway, and don't just pull out right after them, otherwise they will assume their intimidation tactics are working.

If you are seriously concerned for your welfare with such an incident, dial 999 (or your passenger), give details of your car & the car following you and say where you are driving and that you are making your way to the nearest police station where you will pull up outside.

Well Greg I wouldn't just say he was "tailgating" I can deal with tailgators, most just get frustrated and overtake or get the message, this shit was probably just trying to impress his mates at the expense of somebody else to worried about what's going on in their rear view mirror than what is going on in front.

I don't even think the driver was exampling aggresive behaviour, moreso just nuisance and intimidating.
