I think they've had their DJ250 just over a year. I'd reccomend them too Smile

They're in Shoreditch Very Happy

Edit: thinking about it - it could have actually been 2 years ago. I remember them having it installed, and they got this super-powerful cooling fan that they had to send back because it was either too noisy or too windy.

Over 2 years and still learning.

Saying that a Dyno cannot replicate road conditions fully anyway.

That's true. My good friend went to pick up his bike and though it ran-up smoothly on the dyno it was completely unrideable at low-throttle settings one on the road. The tuner never road-tested it, and would never have known of the problem had he not insisted on a road-test before taking it away.
I'm told that in real terms, loading an engine on the dyno will put it under approximately 40% of the stress it would experience on the road, at the same power output.

Thats not really the problem though. Start thinking air pressure and you may get to the answer. Wink

Might be time for a couple of manometers to be strapped to a bike to demonstrate this.

I know I read the thread. The air pressure in the dyno room was really his problem multiplied by the compression of the supercharger.

The thread didn't actually say what the problem was though.

The reason given for the inability to map the low-down running at the time was that the PC2 didn't have the range of adjustment to map it with the larger-capacity injectors. The actual charger system fitted was a very early developmental one (mind you aren't they all so far) which had been mapped with a PC3/PC3r on the original bike and didn't suffer the same problems. The "cure" at the time was to fit stock injectors back in and use the PC2 to map it, and keep the big injectors for top-speed runs and race fuel. Stock injectors were fitted, and the bike ran better but not perfectly and there were other mechanical problems with the setup making diagnosis difficult.

Your best bet is to find someone on the scooter forum who is using the same 30mm carb on the same model bke as you, and find out what jets they have and their needle settings and float height. That will get you pretty close then you could take it to a dyno and have them check the air/fuel ratio, but beware dyno time tends to work out very expensive, and you could easily blow a few hundred quid by the end of it. You could get good reslts taking plug readings and it's free.

I have a 28mm Delorto Carb (same as used on an NSR) on one of my scooters. Don't think the jetting would help you. I was sold it by a guy who had a similar bike. The jets fitted when I bought it were way off when I had it fitted and first dynoed. I reckon an hour or two on the dyno to get things spot on is worth the cash. Make sure you take it to somewhere that has experience with 2 strokes on dyno's and has a decent supply of spare jets etc for you carb to swap around. I reckon you will gain a horsey or two from having it set up right and the bike will ride much better. You will notice an improvement.

Just my Penny Coin Penny Coin

£35 for a power run

then £35 for every hour spent tuning

can't say fairer than that
