Anyone here a Neil Hodgson fan?

I am and would love to see him back in World Superbikes. He's got a lot of British supporters who would love to see him racing on european soil again, on proper tracks!!! Thumbs Up

Wish I'd been at Silverstone at the weekend!!!! Wink

Any opinions? Karma

To be honest I think he got a bit full of himself. I saw the interview with him on ITV and it was interesting to see that he wanted to go back to World Superbikes. Maybe he's decided that he doesn't have the chance of breaking the Mladin monolpoly in AMA. It was interesting, because he won BSB (just!), went on to win WSBK (against fairly mediocre rivals) and then announced that he was going to be the first bloke to win BSB, WSBK and AMA. Still, he's British so I'll cheer him on! Very Happy

Im a Hodgson fan. Very Happy
Would love to see him back in WSB. To be honest he never had a chance in AMA on the Ducati due to the regulations regarding twins over there. If he'd have been on the Suzuki it would have been interesting.
Agree with Silver though, his WSB winning season was against VERY mediocre competition. And I don't think he'll be able to just walk back into the factory Ducati team. Would be ace to see him as Toselands team mate on the Ten Kate Blade though!!

Yeah, 2003 was a dull year for WSB but at least he got the title. Got to meet him at Phillip Island that year Cool Would have liked to have seen him defend his title but that's racing!

Don't think he'll end up with Bayliss either but can't really see why he shouldn't end up with a good team. Would be interesting to see him on a Honda!! Thumbs Up Hope someone gives him another chance. Wink

Well, as Ducati are pulling out of AMA next year he needs to find someone to ride for.

WBS is alot more competetive than when he won it (like Silver pointed out), and to have the only factory backed bike on the whole grid too might of helped a little!

Ducati WSB along side Bayliss maybe?

Who know's.

Thumbs Up

I wonder how he'd get on in World Superbikes now. Look at Shakey Byrne - former BSB Champion, back from two years in MotoGP and yet he's hardly set the National series alight. He's a very distant fourth place at present.

I didn't know that. What's their reasoning?

I think he'll be competative. That's assuming he gets the Ducati factory ride that he wants.

It's possible.

If Lazi keeps his ride for next season I'll eat my bike tyres!

Throwing the dummy a bit I think. They are not competative because of the AMA rules so are pulling out to focus on WSB and MotoGP. For the life of me I can't remember who's getting the bikes, is it Xaus ?

Yeah, pretty much that. AMA rules do not allow them to run alot of the parts that the WSB guys get to use, or even the BSB guys I think, I think they are using some excuse about not being able to develop the bike or something, but they are top of the pile in WSB and BSB, and getting shat on by the Suzuki's and Honda's in AMA thats probably why they are leaving. Which is a shame, the AMA series has some top riders and the racing is suberb to watch.

Thumbs Up

Hmmm... Thinking

And still these rumours persist about Ducati demanding to be able to run 1200cc bikes (giving them the capacity gain they used to enjoy when they had 1000cc and four cyclinders were limited to 750cc). Well, claiming that they're struggling can hardly be used as an excuse. Two out of the top three placed BSB bikes are Ducatis and Troy Bayliss is about to win WSBK on one.

No, apparently they're asking for this because they're wearing out parts a lot quicker than the four cylinder bikes. Well, excuse me, the rules are the same for everyone. If you can't get by on a twin, build a four cyclinder bike. Why should the rules be changed just for Ducati? Honda soon stopped using the SP1 (or was it SP2) when they decided they'd be better off with a four cylinder model.

I support the Stalker, so i can't exactly support Hodgson

Class Rider though, would be great to see him back in WSB

If edwards were to return to WSB next year, potentially we have the
1996
2000
2001
2002
2003
2004
2005
2006

world champions racing each other in WSB 2007!

Awesome!

don't AMA rules allow MORE moding of the engine compared to WSB/BSB?

I thought that's why the Ducati's were down on power because the bikes are already tuned within an inch of their life out of the box, whereas the jap 4's tend to be less tuned out of the box.

"Our primary objective of raising the profile of our brand and of the 999 Superbike has been achieved", said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America. "We have increased our sales over 60% since 2003 and the USA has become a powerful export market for our parent Italian factory. There are a lot of exciting developments coming to our business in the next couple of years and we have decided to take a step back in 2007 in order to plan most effectively for our long term future. Hopefully in the meantime the AMA technical rules, which currently force twin-cylinder bikes to have more standard parts than in World Superbikes, thus making it really difficul for Ducati to compete with the best four-cylinder machines, will be revised for the future. We remain a very strong and committed supporter of the AMA and, when our bikes will be allowed to participate with a fair chance of challenging for the final championship win, we expect to be racing competitively again very soon in the AMA Superbike series. I would personally like to thank the team, the riders and our sponsors, particularly Parts Unlimited, for their role in the resurgence of Ducati's success in the USA."

ducati can't compete in america cos of the rules. simple as.
i can't stand hodgson. he's soooo boring
and he didn't deserve to win BSB 2000-he knocked off walker and would have lost if walker's bike didn't blow up twice. Crying or Very sad
i hope bayliss wastes him if he gets into wsb.
if unsuccessful in getting the official ride-maybe partner xaus again in the sterilgrada team?
c'mon stalker!!!!!!!
