https://www.peugeot-gti.net/new_layout/site_images/uploads/1104874994.jpg

Im looking to make my engine bay s clean as this, using stainless covers and a strut brace.

It will cost about 150-200 punds i guess.

Just wondering whats peoples opinions are.

im not sticking bits of plastic all over my car, but i like it to look tidy.

what do you think?

cheers

It's about as pointless as getting anodized engine bolts for a fully faired sportsbike.

I dont see it as being childish.

It's no different from putting some nice carbon touches on a bike, changing the colour of your screen, braided hoses etc.

It looks good on the outside, i'd like it to look good inside too.

I've spent a good 2 days cleaning the engine, taking bits off, greasing them up and putting them back.

Its not like im spending thousands on huge spoilers and 20inch alloys Laughing

Colour is tartish, DB serves a purpose. Also, what, do you think braided hoses serve a tarty purpose?? Laughing Maybe with craigs23 but most people buy them for sharper brakes.

Makes the engine bay look cluttred, no advantage of fitting it unless you are racing, no one is going to see it unless you hang out with the Chavs at Mc Donalds with your bonnet open. Rolling Eyes

Chav, or stylish? Verdict...CHAV! Confused

I used a litre of machine cleaner in the compressor spray gun when i first got my car. CLeaned it p so i could spot any leaks and keep my fingers clean while working on it, but the stuff above is too far.

My car must be well chav! it has a strut brace as standard Laughing

On a track car thats putting a lot of strain on the chassis a strut brace will serve a purpose. On a road car all it'l do is had extra weight and get in your way if you need to fix anything under the bonnet.

It looks kinda ok, buuuuuut it adds no value, adds no performance and I must admit that if you were selling it and I opened the bonnet to see that I would think two things 'This guy has something to hide' or 'this is a boy racer thats either not went all the way or just took off all the engine lifespan reducing "upgrades" off before he's selling it'.

If you want to do it because you like it then fair play go and do it, if your doing it in the hope someone will go 'oooh thats clean' then your wasting your time!

I can think of much better things to spend 150-200 pounds on. Then again, I don't need to impress myself, nor the local McD crew.

yea, pointless Thumbs Down

its a 1.4 hatchback, i mean its hardly the sort of thing to race in, i would save all the money you would spend on "mods" and put it in a bike fund for test+new bike

You know it makes sense Thumbs Up

What you want is for us all to say "OMG OMG THAT R0XX0RZ" but dont forget this is a bike forum, not a chav car forum.

So if you asked on car chav forums they would be much more supportive. Thumbs Up

Wait until you can drive, i'll guarantee you'll want to upgrade the suspension before you'd spend £200 on metal to make it look cleaner.

It's as pointless as buying coloured/pattered helmets. Thats why everyone here who said no has a plain white one.
