Quote:

Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in a jet-powered car while filming for the programme.

The presenter, 36, was taken by air ambulance to a Leeds hospital which has a special neurological unit.

A North Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesman said he was unconscious when they got to the scene but was regaining consciousness at the hospital.

A BBC spokesman confirmed the presenter had been injured during a shoot.

Aye, nice guy.

Stood next to him when I was working the response teams at Twickenham last year - he really is a tiny little fella!

Regaining consciousness is a good sign I guess.

Hehe - fair point!

Saw your thread after I posted, I consider a car crash to be RN rather than CE - especially as there are people who generally avoid that section that might have been interested.

I wish no ill to anyone and I hope he's ok, couldnt help but think why he did that, perhaps clarkson did it first Rolling Eyes

Its a shame when someone gets hurt but for people to knee jerk and make comments like 'He's irreplaceable' is a bit over the top. The mans a human being first, not a presenter.

Death
Wikinews has news related to:
Richard Hammond injured in jet-powered car crashRichard was severely injured in a car crash while filming for Top Gear on 20 September 2006 at a former RAF airfield near York. He was driving a jet powered car capable of travelling at 280mph in an attempt to break the land speed record for England. He was sent for treatment at Leeds General Infirmary and is currently in a critical condition. [2] BBC reports suggest that he was taken from the crash scene unconscious and taken to the specialist neurological unit at Leeds General Infirmary. The ambulance service was reported to have said Richard began to regain conciousness upon arrival at the hospital. However, at around 20:49 that evening, Richard went into cardiac arrest. Doctors were unable to resuscitate him, and he was pronounced dead on Ceefax at around 21:02. [3] Top Gear have yet to release a statement. Richard lived in Cheltenham, and has left behind wife wife Amanda, whom he married in 2002, and their two young daughters, Isabella and Willow. His family also own three horses, four dogs, two cats, a rabbit and a handful of chickens and sheep.

WTF so this isnt real then?

Just somebody having a laugh by editing the article, which is why you can't ever take anything you read on Wikipedia as fact.

Get well soon Hamster, I await some proper sincerity from Clarkson if and when you get back on the show. Very Happy
