Just for Bazza Laughing

I'm thinking of getting one of these as I cant afford to replace the cbr with a bike, and can get one of these old tanks for 250 quid in decent running order.

Anything to be aware of? Other thank they look crap obviously Wink

Not much to explain apart from it was slow as hell, and it uses bands underneath the car instead of drive shafts or pro shaft so it tend to sound a bit wind up plus the accelaration was dead, mind you in all fairness it was comfy when the road noise dies down a bit and it was a auto so i think that didnt help its cause,

no way on this earth would i ever ever own one again i just couldnt live with little old ladies over taking me all the time.

Ahaa, was it the 1400 or the 1700? Going to check out this 1700 saloon thing, its manual so Neutral its mainly for convenience and the fact that its dirt cheap. Way I'm looking at it, is that any car I can buy for a couple hundred quid, is going to be horrid to drive and dog slow Mr. Green anything I can buy is going to feel pretty slow after the bikes anyways Embarassed

was it one of those oddball "automatic" (cvt) models?

as for ram-doom - if its got enough tax, test and engine to last the winter months, then I dont suppose you can go far wrong at that...

My Mum had one a couple of years ago and paid £150 for it. A 340 GLE 1.7 to be exact! I had the pleasure of borrowing it while my car was off the road.

It was an battleship grey F reg one with 200,000 miles on it and it drove quite well. They are built like tanks and don't handle very well but the 1.7 is suprisingly nippy and they are RWD so wet roundabouts are a good laugh!

Zero street cred but if you drive it like you stole it they are not so bad! And you could always pretend it is not yours! Laughing

I got it Laughing £250, e reg, 2 owners (one of whom was a vicar I swear to god, his reverandship is on the history) 61000 miles full service history, spare brake disks, tax + mot Mr. Green

Terrible to drive, bouncy, weird clutch and gears, all the electrics work though, seats windows sunroof etc Thumbs Up

Just awful to drive Wink

There is one fault however, sometimes when coming off the motorway or A roads, coming to a stop it cuts out, but is easily restarted Neutral carb problem? Nothing major anywho Embarassed

Not sure about this 100 percent, but apparently on the 1400 an R5 GT Turbo head will fit straight on. Thumbs Up

Possibly, it was codeveloped with Renault, and uses Renault engines.
