i'm writing this with a tear in my eye.

i've lost another one of my biker friend only a few hours ago, he was only 19 and was an absolute character.

it's upset me and made me think.

i've lost 5 friends this year all due to biking accidents, whats to say i won't be next?

when i get on a bike I can't help how i behave, i ride like a demon possesed Mad but why? I can't seem to help it or calm down.

If i were to have an fatal accident i'd upset a lot of people.

should i make a Will? should i start to get ready in case something does happen?

Depends...

Do you have any dependants or property?

If so, then, yes, you should make a will.

If not, then there's no real need.

Take some advanced training instead and/or do some trackdays.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

As far as I'm aware your goods and money go to your next of kin - in this case probably your parents. Having a will probably won't be of much benefit really. You may however wasnt to look at accident insurance, that will pay out should you be killed or seriously injured in any sort of accident.
Sorry to hear about your 5 mates, but if you ride the way they presumeably did you could well be next. Life isn't a game and you do need to be responsible about this, the only one who can control the way you ride is you, and if you are seriously unable to ride sensibly perhaps you should sell the bike and come back to it in a couple of years time when you're likely to be a bit more sensible?

5 sounds like a lot to me.

It might be worth getting into a different type of biking like offroad, where you are less likely to kill yourself.

Get some different friends too, as the attitudes of your crowd seem to be getting you all killed.

1 would be a tragedy, 2 could be a coincidence 3 would be a pattern, but 5 says its pretty obvious that the way of thinking with you lot is getting you killed.

if you have more than £280,000 of assets make a will , in it make a SPECIFIC LEGACY so the beneficiary receives it tax free , whats left of the estate gets taxed.

That said wills can and are changable by a deed of variation.

Sorry to be harsh but

You can also make a living will setting out your wishes ie go to Switzerland to die etc,

Things like this teach us one important thing ,

life is short and it can end anytime , live it enjoy it for tommorow we may die.

That's really shocking that you've lost 5 mates in a year because of biking.

It's really upsetting to hear about your friend as well, 19's so young. D'you know what happened?

RIP Jack

I wouldnt bother with a will till you get a flat/house, if your thinking of making a will due to biking your bike would more than likely wrote off.

When i crashed there really wasnt that much in my name just stuff in my house and in bank, wouldnt have been any point to a will as be more than happy it all going to parents.

I agree with colin, sounds like your all either riding to fast or taking unnessery risks. Off roading might be a nice alternative Thumbs Up

I think and correct me if im wrong he said to them all before they set off, its not a race and take it easy. It was a unfortunate accident, but as we all know, unfortunatly slight lapses of concentration on a bike can have severe consequences.

Dont argue please, its not the time or the place, just want to think of the good times and his smilin face and his amazinlgy funny personality.

Miss you Jack Crying or Very sad

I used to ride in a similar fashion to what I think you are discribing, trying to push the bike just that much quicker round the twisties and getting closer and closer near misses.

Take it from me - start doing trackdays

Not only does it give you an outlet for your need for lunacy, it will also open your eyes to how busy and dangerous it is on the roads.

I now ride that little bit slower and more defensive on the roads as a result. Don't get me wrong, I don't ride slow at all, I just give a bigger margin for error.

As for making a will, I wouldn't bother until you have equity and dependants, unless you specifically want your possessions to go to different people, but genearlly speaking your things will go to your next of kin i.e your parents if your are not married, kids if you have them.

RIP to your fallen friend Karma

they are having an opinion based on the facts given to them. 5 deaths from one group of riders in a year is extremely high. this may have just been unfortunate, but they dont know that.

perhaps if someone says what happened, they (and me) can have a more informed opinion.

In short it seems that

Road was shitty (as can be expected by the heavy rain yesterday morning).

Jack loses it on a left hander and slides towards oncoming traffic, which was a buell.

Buell tries to aviod it all but goes down, buell rider roughs up his ankle and pillion gets gravel rash.

Meanwhile buell slides down and hits jack breaking his leg.

So, in my opinion poor observation mixed with riding beyond ability and some bad luck thrown in the mix. I rarely agree with colin1 but seriously, 5 people in a year, I've been on loads of rideouts to wales and all sorts and only ever had 1 person go down and he got up fine.

Its all very well and good saying, its poor observation etc. But let it lie, whats done is done. Unfortunatly this time the consequences of a lapse of concentration resulted in us losing a young 19 year old lad, who had everything to live for.

R.I.P Jack mate

Sometimes it mite be better just to write a letter and put down what you want to happen when you die and keep it in a safe place.

I mean if i died, i would just give all my money/bikes/car to my parents, then they can sell it and keep the money for themselfs or have a big piss up.
