There's a bloke at work who rides a 2006 GSXR1000 in Black, with full carbon Akrapovic system and a few other nice goodies like rearsets and Ohlins steering damper.

Now that the weather has got worse, it's nice to see that he is still riding but he's put his GSXR away and dug out his ratty winter bike........... a 2002 R1

Some people have too much money, unfortunately, I'm not one of them

way too much money!

my sv was sliding around under the power yeterday on most roundabouts (extra credit to the buses and lorries that seem to dump diesel there!). I almost bought a fireblade a few months back...glad i didnt now. Would be a bit much through winter for me.

look on the bright side.....i cant think of one but im sure if you can find one it'll help the jealousy!

Litre bike power is fine, i ride the Busa in all weather, never put a foot wrong. Tyre technology these days is far superior to even 4 years ago.
All these people saying their bike spins up off the throttle is either bollox or they are running years old technology rubber.

Not quite as bad but I am using my D675 as a summer bike and my winter bike is a year old D650 - which I have to say I am quite embarrased about.

Mind you I'm only doing that cos I can't sell the bloody thing! Anyone interested?

I'm not really jealous, the Blade does me fine and, being a lardy old 98 Blade, it only spins if I'm stupid enough to crack the throttle open. The sad thing is that I ride it all year round, can't afford a winter hack

No, I just wish I could afford a second bike

I once had four bikes but found it was too many, it felt like I was writing to the DVLA every week for tax or SORN notices. Then there was the maintenance to keep them all running. I prefer to have one bike to four but I wish I had the cash for a second one.

You don't need a second bike in winter. As long as you wash the salt deposits off after ever ride it will be fine. The chain will need lubing more often and thats about it.

The cost of buying, taxing and insuring a second bike will cost more than you would ever lose from riding your main bike through the winter months.

I'd be laughing at all the car drivers on those cold wet winter days as I filter past them, knowing I be home and in some nice dry warm clothes way before they're out of traffic .

You can get an R1 of that age for not too much these days.
For what he's paid for his highly tarty bike and his 'winter' bike, a lot of people would spend double that on a car, so doesn't a massively stupid thing to do if he can afford it and doesn't mind the wet, etc.
