Waterproofing

For commuting in Autumn (30 miles each way, mainly motorway), as an alternative to a very expensive one piece oversuit (see other thread), I might just wear my current Dainese D-Dry jacket (with lining) and trousers (without lining) over my shirt/trousers, with my suit jacket in the top box. They're very waterproof when zipped together, but the outside stays wet for ages if it's rained heavily, so I'd prefer some kind of lightweight oversuit that can go over everything too for that really wet weather. Hi-vis would be nice as it'll be worn in conditions where visibility won't be great. I'll probably get some Oxford muffs too to keep my hands dry (the heated grips will already keep them reasonably warm) in addition to the Racer Multitop gloves - which are excellent all year round.

How are handlebar muffs?

Recommendations for the oversuit?

How good is that stuff that is meant to keep water off your visor (like Rain-X)?

I highly recommend the oxford deluxe muffs. Mine are left on pretty much all the time because im too tight to buy some waterproof gloves. Make sure when you fit them you secure the side using the bar ends. With heated grips you'll be laughing.

ive not long ago bought a 1 piece waterproof suit from my local quater master stores. Its classed as work wear and really does the job well. It doesn't leak and is easily put on even when you have a full set of leathers and boots on.

Plus at £28 i think its a bargain

I had Muffs and heated grips and my hands were actually too hot on the highest setting, even on the coldest days.

But the muffs are buggers to get used to if you havn't had them before. Its like having your hands tied to the bars as you have to remember if you want to put your visor up/down you need to pull your hands out of the muff then raise your hand and not just raise your hand as usual.

I took mine off in the end and now rely on hand guards and my heated grips.
