Clutch slip?

Was out tonight, and everything was normal, having a blast, high revs then change into gear, all normal....

Then suddenly when I was doing a quick start it'd go around the rev range like normal (whilst accelerating) then get to say 8-10k it'd just just rev to about 13k and then it would bite and go.

It only does it when accelerating fairly hard, what's the reason?

As per the title, it's clutch slip. Basically your clutch plates and/or springs are worn. It's not particularly expensive in parts, and with a Haynes I hear the job itself is OK for an amateur mechanic. But it's not masses of labour anyway.

I was going to do it soon anyway, should I do the change before I change clutch plates?

Hi

Sounds like clutch slip. Normally worse in higher gears (ie, full throttle @ 10000rpm in top is far more likely to trigger it than the same throttle and revs in 1st gear).

Think the NC30 is slightly tricky to change the clutch plates on (special tool required, someone might have one you can borrow).

Or have you left enough slack on the clutch lever? a tight lever can result in cluth slip from my experience.

Clutch has slack yeah.

Kickstart, I'll check my Haynes tomorrow to see what tool I need.

Have got a price of 43 quid for the stock clutch plates.

Or 52 for Race plates....
