 |

Himself has left me in an ebay dilemma.
We sold the lad's scooter this week, was up with a reserve of £350 and a buy-it-now of £400, due to finish tomorrow.
Yesterday someone bought it using the buy-it-now, so I emailed him to make sure he had understood that he had agreed to pay the full £400 for it without seeing it, then phoned him (where the price was mentioned again) and arranged collection for today. I left Himself to go meet the bloke as it was easier for him to get away from work.
Anyway, an hour later he rings me and says OK it's sold, I let him have it for £340 cos he was going to walk away, he said it wasn't worth the £400. He can't understand why I am so mad with him, taking the "at least it's gone and I've got cash in my hand" attitude. I have tried to explain that the guy could have come to see the scoot and made us an offer or bid in the auction, and that the buy it now was a contract so he should have let him walk away, ebay is not like an ad in the Loot or something and it's cost us more in fees. He still doesn't get it.
So that leaves me stuck re the feedback. The buyer was a nice guy apparently and completed the transaction well within the time limits I had set but to my mind he didn't honour the contract and I should really negative him, but at the same time we should not have accepted his lower offer so it isn't fair for me to do that when in a way Himself was equally at fault.

Persoanlly il leave positive as he has paid and completed the transaction within your time limit.
Im not having a go, but its not his fault you / your partner sold it to him for less.
Probably easier to both leave positive feedback ____________________ Now owner of a 1200 Bandit |

Bloody zero G!
I suppose I should at least be thankful he wasn't a Nigerian offering me a bankers draft.......
I think you see where I'm coming from don't you? Technically he was in the wrong, but my other half allowed him to be. If he'd come, said "I'm not buying that for £400" and walked I would have just reported him, re-listed the scoot and got my fees back. Strictly speaking that's what should have happened. But it didn't because Himself accepted the haggle and the lower amount of cash. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Could you not just report him for only paying £340? Think you'll be on dodgy ground as you (Himself) re-negotiated the contract previously agreed to that amount. However, counter arguement is you were coerced to accept that amount as already gone so far with the sale. IMO the buyer knew this and was just using the Buy Now price as a starting point and a way in to avoid anyone else getting to the bike first. So, again, only IMO rate as negative (or if hesitant then neutral).

Personally, i think thats a bit wrong, you should have explained how "buy it now" works and he may have gone the full £400.
If you think about it £70 out of £400 is 17.5% of the price. When the item is over £1000 £70-100 is fair enough but seems he knocked a lot off.
Then again i have never brought a bike off ebay but if i did i would go with my winning bid amount and not haggle as different system to say autotrader.
I vote contact him and ask why he didnt stick to the rules  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Did 'himself' explain why he allowed it to go for less?
You say the buyer wasnt prepared to pay £400 for it. If there was something wrong that wasn't listed in the ad, that's kind of fair enough, but were talking fundamental defects here. Wear & tear doesn't count (does it?!).
If it was as described, then you are within your rights to leave negative feedback. If he does the same, I'd kick up a stink with ebay. Sadly as the deal is done and dusted and was a cash in hand job, I doubt there much eBay will want to do.
Time for 'himself'' to spoil you a bit, to the value of £60! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |
