Track day tyre pressures...?

Apologies as no doubt this has been covered off a few times...

I'm still really confused as to what pressures I should run this Saturday at Snetterton. The stock pressures are 42 rear and 36 front...

Reading Ride mag, they suggested dropping by no more than 4PSI front and rear but some sites have suggested running 30PSI front and rear! Should't the pressure drops stay in relation - maintain higher pressure in the rear than the front rather than setting them both to the same PSI?

Any thoughts on what I should set them to...? Its a little cooler this time of year so track temp will be lower...

The tyres are Pilot 2CT's on a K6 GSXR 1000.

I usually try and drop the pressures down to around 30 psi on both front & rear.

There will normally be a guy at the track who can give you good advice on what pressure to run the tyres.

You want them both to be about 35 when hot.

I'd drop them a few psi, go out for the first session, get them nice and toasty, then come straight in and adjust.

Keep an eye on them through the day as it'll get warmer and you should also be putting more heat into them as you get quicker through the day.

No, forget the fact that the rear usually has a higher pressure - that's for road use and is a completely different situation.

I'd set them both to about 32 before the first session then check when you get in.

Good advice from Bendy, I'd expect to use around 30 front and back on a warm day, perhaps a fraction more on a cooler day. As G says, you're aiming for 35psi at working temperature, 31 - 32 should achieve this no problem!

depending on the temperatures of the day, its should be between (cold) 2.1-2.3 front and rear; 2.0-2.3
