I think the reason people say not to use it on electrical connectors is not because it eats them but because it leaves a residue which in turn attracts muck which in turn attracts moisture so you need to use it again, also it doesnt clean the connections, electrolube make products that do.

Where I have found it useful - quite by accident and out of frustration was removing some stuck fast bolts on a 30 year old honda engine, penetrating fluid hadnt done it even though soaked for a week, however after spraying on wd40 (or tescos 'maintenance spray - half the price) and one whack with the impact driver the bolts came free, probably a combination of the 2 fluids,

Only on Titanium, but then again any oil based product will.

WD40 doesn't claim to be switch cleaner, the reason for spraying it on the electrics is that it is moisture dispersing, therefore it stops water getting in to the connectors during our lovely winter. I regularly give the engine a good spraying with it during the winter

Yep thats the residue, if you dont believe it leaves a residue then spray some on your favourite spanner and leave overnight, grab spanner next day, it'll feel a bit like its had an oily massage - and your hand will smell of it!

WD40 is also a very good substitute hand cleaner when you're working on the bike.

Skoosh of WD40, and then wipe with some rag/kitchen roll, and you're 90% there to having clean hands

well you said it doesnt leave a greasy film, - and i'm saying the residue isnt solid, and it is slippery.

I was just pointing out the possible problems of using it on electrical connectors, I know some people will never be convinced otherwise, but i've seen and had to rectify the results, it's a circular discussion, some people swear by the stuff and others say it has its place but not in electrical connections. I fall into the second camp, that's all.

No need for name calling, I honestly interpreted that sentence to have an opposite meaning - thats all, and that isnt my fault. I'm not an english teacher either, for all i know I could be wrong. I would have worded it different - thats all.

The comma's in the right place afaik. If you want to be pedantic about it, it perhaps should have been a semi-colon, but it read fine to me, and I understood it as it was intended.
